Saturday, March 1, 2014, 8:18:36 PM- Today's playlist
Once again working on a weekend. At least I get to listen to the music I like!

A modern classic!

Let's go in a different direction.

This was hilarious and I broke my rule and watched the video.

To be fair, and since it is an Opera it counts as a cultural experience wink

Monday, February 17, 2014, 1:18:22 AM- Ignorance isn't always bliss, it can be sad.
When I was out to dinner tonight the people at the table behind us were talking and it was all I could do not yell at them. It appeared to be a late teenage boy, his mom and grandma. Among the topics they discussed were that it was ridiculous that teachers were paid $30-40K. It is ridiculous since when all the hours outside school are accounted for most teachers earn far below minimum wage. The issue is they were saying that that was too much, for glorified baby sisters.

Then they followed this up this gem by saying the Federal Government should legalize marijuana since it is completely safe. They said the words “no one ever gets into a traffic accident while high on marijuana, only alcohol causes people to drive dangerously”. That is complete BS, yes alcohol which is legal causes far more accidents and deaths, but weed already accounts for 3% of accidents and ~400 deaths a year in the USA while it is a schedule 1 drug.

If weed is legal I can promise you that will go up to levels on par with alcohol. Why alcohol and not tobacco the other smoked plant? THC like alcohol is mind altering, and affects judgment and response time. Given that alcohol and marijuana together is worse than either alone, I imagine that once marijuana is legalized there will have to the be a special lower limit for people caught driving under the influence on a combination like 0.04% alcohol and 2.5ng/mL blood THC.

Then the mother (a middle age woman) said that if marijuana was legal and taxed like tobacco (~50%) that the federal deficit would be paid in a year, and the second year would be surplus, and there would be no repercussions. Assuming a federal deficit of $16 trillion, and getting $125 an OZ in taxes, the USA would need to sell 8 billion pounds of marijuana to make $16 trillion. So if every person alive on the planet right now bought 1.14 pounds of weed the US debit would be paid off, though I imagine there would be some ethical issues with babies and children having to smoke that much weed. tongue
Assuming 500 lbs per acre yield for marijuana we would need to put an area the size of West Virgina under intensive marijuana monoculture.

To have 3 generations of a family being that ignorant is just sad.

Wednesday, February 12, 2014, 9:04:18 PM- Stuck at home again
Yes, I’m stuck at home again, however this time it’s sleet and freezing rain instead of snow. Diversity is the spice of life.

Hours and hours of sleet clicking against the windows, is great, it’s not at all maddening. No wait I’m wrong, it is madding and thumping bass and grinding guitar isn’t covering it up…

At least I have power and internet!!! smile

Korn unplugged with the chick from Evanescence, a good song made awesome, her voice is haunting.

This is Korn, pure and simple. (Lesson learned: Your demons aren’t your friends. wink

Marilyn Manson yes he’s a “guy” with C-cup implants but if you ever hear him speak, he’s one smart guy, his form of rebellion and disenfranchisement is carefully crafted to sell records.

A new classic

Need to mellow out a little, yes this is mellow

Just to be random. When was the last time you heard this song?

Sure it’s propaganda but it’s a really good song.

That last song was called Zombie and this is White Zombie…

The day is nearly done!

It’s going to be a long week, since I’m going to stuck at home tomorrow, and possibly Friday.

Sunday, February 2, 2014, 8:22:33 PM- Working on a weekend doesn't have to be boring
Actually it is very boring so I'd got the blood pumping.
A sample play list of albums, and again I don't watch the videos it is just the music as background noise:

To chill out once the work is done:

Wednesday, January 29, 2014, 8:04:29 PM- Some classics to rock out to while you are snowed in
Just put on the sound and go about your surfing. I did't watch the videos, so I don't know the quality of the imagery.

Tuesday, May 12, 2009, 3:53:14 PM- Evening Star
'Twas noontide of summer,
And mid-time of night;
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, thro' the light
Of the brighter, cold moon,
'Mid planets her slaves,
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves.
I gazed awhile
On her cold smile;
Too cold- too cold for me-
There pass'd, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar,
And dearer thy beam shall be;
For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night,
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.

This poem was written by Edgar Allan Poe.

Is it just when I am checking the new posts or is the UK the primary contributor to this site?
