Bananas & plantains r the same family but plantain are less sweet & more starchy. Plantains are cooked side dish boiled or fried. They'd be familiar to African, Carribean & S American cooking.
I love them riped, fried with a side of a hot tomato sauce. The crisps are pretty awesome too.
Lemon, limes, coconut aren't vegetables & we use them so often in savoury dishes.
Carrots & oranges, classic Moroccan starter. Pomegranate seeds in middle Eastern dishes. Cranberry sauce
I'm a sucker for a green mango salad; grilled apples with chicken & Calvados sauce as well as an apples, chicory & walnut salad.
