While I’m clearly in a rampage mood, I think NN is the exact kind of place where we should discuss menopause/HRT more. Thoughts? I don’t frequent forum much, but doesn’t seem to be commonly discussed
Well it breaks my heart that men get a very hard end of a pointy stick with this, with neither party necessarily understanding why. Yet it’s so fixable.
Maybe just maybe any man who reads this and continues to whinge and moad that their wife/partner no longer wants sex might take a pause and go....'I didn't realise'...I won't hold my breath...
I wish it was fixable. The hot flushes, night sweats, etc are much reduced with HRT, but the skin changes, fat distribution, joint/muscle aches, general loss of physical ability is really hard to take
I've always been fit, active, strong, healthy, flexible, but my abilities have nose dived in the last few years. It's like ageing a decade or two in a year or two.
This is exactly where I’m at MrsT. Started collagen supplements although I’m sceptical, finding the skin thing the hardest. I’ve upped my oestrogen and I think that’s helped with fat distribution…
Exercise and a healthy diet are so important, but they don't stop the rapid decline. I can't imagine how ancient I'd feel if I wasnt health conscious 😂
Sorry if I'm depressing you 40 something spring chickens I'm still alive at 60, have my own teeth, can touch my toes, don't yet break anything when I fall over & have sex a couple of times a year
Twice a day…Sod that. You change a patch twice a week. It’s a little weird at first, but when you get used to them you, you don’t feel them. Maybe give them a try x
The menopause can have an effect on some mens lives too, I've been living with "2 people" for many years. Its more than just moaning about your other halfs mood swings for some of us.
I'd hate to have been living with me for the last 10yrs, fortunately I've been alone. Yes, I did type 10rs and without HRT, I still have all the usual symptoms.
MrsT. Sounds familiar and is probably more common than realised. For some it takes years. All the media stuff suggests its a finite process......it ain't.
I’m utterly in awe of hormones and don’t think mine have been quite right my whole life. The biggest thing with oestrogen for me is my mood - being able to ‘cope’ with things that would usually…
I'm probably not alone, but places like this help. Intersting how much help there is for ladies but little consideration for the mental health of the partners.
It doesn't hurt to at least try to understand things, but I fully support anyone who has tried their best but reaches the conclusion its best to move on.
I'm fast approaching this part of my life so this discussion is perfect...I know nothing about what i will experience so discussing this will help a lot...Thank you Mellie for starting this...xx
Mine came and went with a bit of a whimper at a relatively young age..... just hot flushes really. On a positive note I've saved a fortune in sanitary products ever since.
started early to mid forties, worst part were the intermittent cycles, I often got caught out until they stopped completely..... I think I was one of the lucky ones, even to it was v early I didn't su
I used to be on medication that as a side effect, gave me hot flushes all day, every day. Even waiting for a bus in the snow I'd be sweating. I stopped taking them after 2 years.
There were loads of things initially SEB that I didn’t put together. Tinnitus- common side effect of low oestrogen and quite a useful one for me. A literal audible alarm for when I’m struggling…
My sleep had been disrupted for about a year, but had put that down to stress. It wasn’t stress and oestrogen really helped with that. Not perfect, but much better. Weight distribution shifting too x
Yeah loads better on the whole, my mood is better than it’s ever been, although a certain someone likes to disagree - I think that’s more about me being able to be assertive when not overwhelmed 😂
It fluctuates, but that’s the whole point of peri menopause there are massive fluctuations. Night sweats and sleep disturbances crept back in, so checked bloods and now trying testosterone.
I'd definitely do the same again, except I'd go the HRT route sooner. It felt like admitting defeat, but it gave me most of my life back, so I call it a win.
It's not about what we do or say T4F but the whole we are. About whole, my fresh milk wasn't so fresh. Flipping shop refused to refund me 10min after purchase.
I added lemon, lime juice & made buttermilk. I thought to redecorate the shop front 1st but meh I don't like waste & they're many cameras around here 🤣😂
Mellie, Frankly, I am saddened by the inequities of the sexes: especially as it relates to pharmacology. It seems that the "industry" has been geared toward providing for the male of the species.
Another advantage of gel is you can adjust the dose. I know my hormones fluctuate, so when they're higher, I can use less gel and up it again when my internal furnace fires up 😂
