Sunday, February 3, 2008, 12:00:09 AM- Scare in the mail
Ok, today's trip to the mail box was interesting to say the least. First a little background. Some of you know that I have a birthday coming up soon. I'll be 35 on that day. So today I go the mailbox to get my mail. I should note that it my normal practice to just look at the return addresses to see who things are from and generally not to pay attention to who they are addressed to. So today I'm doing my normal browsing of the return addresses and one of the them is from the AARP. (For those who may not know this, the AARP is the American Association of Retired Persons.) So I'm freaking out. I mean I know I'm getting older but come on, I'm no where near AARP age yet. Then I look down at who it was addressed to. It was addressed to someone with the same street number 2 blocks over. Thank goodness. Well, that was my excitement for the day (I live such an exciting life) O well, Later HCB

Friday, February 1, 2008, 10:41:59 PM- Day 1
Ok, some of you may remember by agreement that I would wear a tie to work for a month. Well, today was day 1. Really not that big of a think. I used to wear one all the time so it doesn't bother me at all. What I can't believe is the number of people in our office that think that it has to be a special occasion to wear a tie. I spent more time today answering questions about why I was wearing a tie, than I did actually working. I guess that's not that big of a deal. Only 20 more days....I sure hope that after another 5 or so the questions stop... Hope y'all have a good weekend HCB

Thursday, January 31, 2008, 3:50:15 AM- Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner.....
Absolutely one of the best basketball games I have ever seen played by a team representing my alma mater. We pretty much controlled the tempo of the game and were never really in danger of getting behind by too many points. The final score was 84-75. That ended a 24 year old streak of home losses to our in state rival. Gotta tell ya. It's going to be hard for me to sleep tonight, I'm pretty amped up right now.... O btw, it looks like our women's team also won tonight. I just saw a final score of 77-75. No real details on that game. Both teams remain undefeated in conference play.... Not gonna be able to wipe the grin off my face for a few days... HCB

Wednesday, January 30, 2008, 1:23:53 AM- Oh the weather out side is frightful.....
Wait that's a Christmas song, but it has been oh so appropriate the last couple of days here. Yesterday at this time the temperature was about 52 deg. F. Right now it is 0 deg F. Not to mention that the wind is blowing about 25 mph so it really feels like about -25 deg F. Normally I can deal with cold weather, but this extreme changes in temp in a short period of time is absolutely for the birds. (although it would probably kill many if they were around here.) Ok, on a lighter note. I am extremely anxious for tomorrow to come. First, let me tell you that I attended Kansas State University for my higher education. Both our men's and women's basketball teams are currently undefeated in conference play and are tied with one other team for the lead in the conference. Our men's team play our in state rival tomorrow night (the school I can only refer to as the place down the river) and I think we have a pretty good chance to beat them. If that isn't enough to be anxious about. A group of local alumni are getting together to watch the big game on tv. I'm planning to go and I am hoping that a couple of the attractive young ladies whom I haven't seen in a couple of months will also be there. I'd like to ask one of them out, but we'll see how things go....I'll keep you informed.... Anyway, must end by saying Awk Squawk Chicken Hawk, Screw KU HCB

Monday, January 28, 2008, 11:38:54 PM- to switch things up a bit....
Ok, so I have posted links to several music videos most of which have been for the entertainment only. Well, today's song is a bit different. I'm not trying to make a statement, just hoping it makes people think. I have also included the lyrics if you want to read them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGMNPjlTa7s In these times in which we live Where the worst of what we live Is laid out for all the world on the front page And the sound of someone's heartbreak Is a soundbite at the news break With a close shot of the tears rollin' down their face Blessed be the child who turns a loving eye And stops to pray For these times in which we live In these most uncertain hours Where the balance of power Is a fight that is fought every day And freedom is a word Some cry out and some whisper And some are just too quick to give away Blessed be the one who stands by the one On the battle line For these times in which we live Well give me a heart full of tender mercy And arms I will open wide For these times in which we live Seems like the only answer is Givin' up on findin' one at all And we hide behind unsure Pull the blinds and lock the doors And hang a pleasant picture on the wall Blessed is the believer who knows love is our redeemer And the only breath of life For these times in which we live Well give me a heart full of tender mercy And arms I will open wide Yeah give me words full of loving kindness And hands ready to hold up a light For these times in which we live For these times in which we live HCB

Thursday, January 24, 2008, 12:04:48 AM- I didn't know a guy could do that....
Ok, so this afternoon I spent about 700 dollars in maybe an hour. You'd think, gosh that's not that bad. Maybe a new computer, tv, or maybe power tools. Nope....It was on clothes....Ok, a little carlification, not all on clothes per say. About half of that was new eye glasses, but still. So I'm sitting here with my new glasses on looking at my new clothes and saying...did I really do that? Now in the store, the sales guy (I couldn't get one of the cute ladies to help me) had the shirts and ties laid out with different colored pants. I should have taken notes I guess. I'm trying to remember now which combinations go with what. O well, I guess I am now prepared to pay my dues... Enjoy HCB
