Ha! Owning a 400 hp truck weighing 5000 pounds and complaining about the price of fuel! Is that not like the guy who killed his parents and sought leniency because he was an orphan?

Hey...you left out my Yukon XL! I only complain because it hurts to pay US$100 for a fill up...but I will take my gas guzzler any day over some tiny piece of crap car that I have to choose between bringing groceries or my kids home from the store! The bigger the better!

Two points...a gallon is not going to
be measured the same everywhere you
go...mostly 20% less in US.But you are right we use far much more in
States.

Good to be reminded that what we are paying here is less than what others are xxxxxx to pay. Thanks

Lol - thanks bythesea, but don't get me started on why the USA doesn't use litres and kilograms like the rest of the world!

Well, fuel prices or gas prices as they call it in the usa.
The painful thing for them I think,is the percentage increase and how to alter a lifestyle based on cheap mobility.
In Melb, when visiting family, I thought the travel bargains on the metro from frankston and then the city centre trams were a suberb bargain.
In the UK, we have a appalling situation, being xxxxxx to spend a fortune on travel,...travel that we are xxxxxx to make.

You should live in the southern part of the USA!!! Talk about an addiction to big trucks...LOL!!! Pick-up trucks are a way of life here!!! I can't say anything, I have a Lincoln Town Car!!! I don't complain about gas prices, though!!! I knew what I was getting myself into!!! Thanks!!!

Like Raven said, it is the rapid increase in price that is causing the anger. Since the 60-ies to the early 90-ies, the price went from $.40 a gallon to $1.20 a gallon. That's 80cents in 30 years, but in the last 10 years it jumped to be close to $3 by this summer and all the while oil companies are reporting record earnings. If it had been a slow increase, fine, but the jump over the last 10 years is tough. The interesting thing is that the oil industry is killing the pickup-truck and SUV industry, a vital market for their products.

I have to agree with TBJ... I wouldn't be so upset with gas prices myself if the oil companies weren't making 11 Billion dollars a quarter in profits. Granted, I cant complain too much, I drive a 4 cylinder car that's good on gas... but... Exxon/Mobil, share the wealth will ya?

Welcome to America, the reason the price is so low IS because we do use so much! Tb hit it on the nose. And it doesn't matter where you are, you complain about the issues relevent to you. You also have to remember Americans rely on their cars far more than most other countries. They're like kids to some people!

Please don't get me started.

Our average comute is 25 miles us each way. Most of eu is in another country by that time. Our pblm is Politicions with no back bone and greedy CEO's. When we refuse to vote for encumbents this may change.

Thus the reason I love my 2.3 liter Ford Ranger truck. Very good on gas.

Just bi cóòl: When in the first place the Chinese find out their "larger cocks" in the form off a large car, oil will sooner be empty on the world than anybody can imagin. So just enjòý the last oil years in your generation and pay if yOu can... !-)

In eu, the cost of gas is mainly taxes (about 79 % in France, I guess as much in UK) : in Paris, gas is about 1.45 euro per liter, it makes (if I'm right) 6.92 us $ per gallon...
besides, streets and roads are too narrow for these monsters. I own a citroen Picasso where kids and groceries fit well and is able to travel more than 25 miles (without crossing any border, France is bigger then 50 miles !!).

The price of Oil per barrell is the same for everybody. Ask your government why yours cost more at the pump.

you buy what you want and I'll keep my big truck and pay the fuel charge.

If you want your big trucks and SUVs, then don't complain that your tank costs you $50 to fill when mine only costs $30. And it's not a small vehicle either. Fuel economy doesn't necessarily mean that you have to compromise in all the other options. And yes, we are more dependant on our vehicles, but that isn't necessarily a good thing! As far as not using the metric system, that was a decision made from the ego and not intellect.

My SUV was built by Harley Davidson... lol It's huge 4 gallon tank is like ten dollars to fill and one fill up lasts two weeks. In winter though it is not a warm ride. I have a little ford ranger that I use in winter. I don't really have that huge "truck" mentality that lots of americans have.

I totally agree with you on the US obsession with these stupid vehicles.Ive been abroad many times, and Ive found the US to be one of the most backwards Nations period. It is unfortunate that big business seems to be running the US Government for the last 20 years.

lee64, I live is Scotland, a tiny country in comparison to the US but my daily commute is 35 miles each way, and that is not out of the ordinary. I drive a 1 Litre car that gets me there and back and has done for 5 years, In the most extreme Scottish conditions. Don't make excuses, the US wastes too much fuel on these monsters for no reason.
