I'm not overly concerned about a disease with a sub-1% mortality rate among the otherwise healthy. If one DOES have a compromised immune system, it's on THEM to avoid the public, not the rest of us.
Just curious... Sub 1% mortality rate. Is that in cases infected or per 10 or 100 Thousand? Either way you should start doing real math because those aren't the # I've seen.
U.S. Population: 330 million. Covid cases: Approx 20 million. Covid deaths: 345,000. That is 0.1% of the population killed by the virus. 1.7% of those infected die as a result.
The dive from 5-6% mortality rate is a credit to the medical professionals who found what treatments work, to drive that number down to about 1.7% mortality rate (in the US). It is NOT the flu.
I have friends who have had it - healthy, no underlying conditions, in their 30s-40s - and they said it is much worse than the flu. Some are still dealing with the effects
0.1% of the US population has died as a result of the virus SO FAR. That number is increasing by the day. As owbig says, even may of those who don't die suffer from serious, long term effects.
