My oldest sister had the same year Trans Am that was in the movie. It was nice but didn't have the power you would expect. Was still a really nice car though

At the risk of a sweeping generalisation, a lot of American cars are the same - massive engines but very little power or speed!

Hey Jag

Yeah, this is true. But even 20 years ago there were American cars with 5 litre engines kicking out 150bhp!

I dunno, all the V8's I've had moved the 2 tons of iron down the road pretty fast.
yep but that's why I said now....within the last 8-10 yrs things have really jumped horsepower wise and the are still emissions controled....if they knew then what they know now eh

In the early days of emission control, a lot of engines were sluggish. That changed when cats, electronic ignition and fuel injection came along.

what did you have len? we're leaning more towards 0-60 times or 60ft times

The Uk is now flooded with 1.2 3 pot engines with a turbo, very fast revving...engines won't last long, but that's not the idea...disposable, tin cans

Closest thing I ever had to a muscle car was a "71" Pontiac LeMans. Factory 350 4 barrel, auto on the floor. It was fast enough to get me a few tickets, lol

almost everything made these days is made as disposable tc...nothing meant to be worked on or repaired...like landfills and oceans are infinity

For V8's, a 350 in a 75 Cutlass, a little sluggish when goosed, a 350 in a 77 Olds 88 that was fast as fuck, a 5 liter in a Ford Crown Vic that was smooth as silk and fast.

You can now get a Ford Fiesta with a 1 litre engine kicking out more than 130bhp! Anyway, get me a diablo sandwich and Dr Pepper - I am in hot pursuit!
all decent cars len but our ideas of fast af I believe are way different...although they are all good open road cars and cruse at a comfortable 80mph not the light to light type of fast\

Until recently, American cars couldn't come close to European for power and performance compared to engine size. Getting closer though.

Nobody drives big jacked up truck with a gear ratio of a tank and a diesel engine big enough to pull a farm tractor?
