it's to stop people pm'ing themselves pics to then post on blogs, people could basically post anything and also abuse the system by putting pics in messages etc

now that mods have to approve the pics, should stop things that are illegal getting on to the site but gives you a way of obtaining a url to share the pics without non-nude stuff going in the gallerie

Yes, I get that sidds, but having it visible in notifications and activity of those that you follow, prior to the person actually posting it seems a bit daft.
