Firesong's blog post - My weekend

Wednesday, July 3, 2019, 3:47:24 AM

My campsite, upon arrival, morning one, after cleanup, and two, of day two, of cleanup.

I just wished to share a bit of my camp trip with those who care to check it out. It was just me and my golden retriever, Zack. I had never gone with less than one person, before. This was to disconnect, and try to get my mind right. I've just been going through it, lately, and felt this may be just what I needed. I hadn't camped in a good ten years.
I scouted the spot out, a couple weeks ago. It was a mess, but, I didn't realize how bad it was. But, enough for my setup, me, and my Zack.
When I got there, I tried Zack up, and picked up all the broken glass I could find, on a bed of dead leaves and pine needles. Then I set up my canopy and tent, built a fire, cracked a cold one....etc.....
I spent the next morning raking the camp. I was surprised at the amount of frustration that I was getting rid of. I raked it all to some logs, that had all had one end placed over the fire, then, tossed aside when done.
The second morning, I drug the logs down to the treeline, and using nature's boundaries, made a "parameter", and continued my raking, up to the logs. There was enough leaves, one needles, and dirt, that, they appear to have been there for some time. I must have picked up a couple pounds of broken glass, during all of this. But, I think I also doubled the amount of usablespace, in the site. It had been a while since I'd felt any kind of sense of accomplishment, and this one felt good. I was happy that the camp would now be safe, and comfortable for me and Zack. I was about two hours away from an emergency vet, which would be enough time for me to die a thousand deaths, had Zack gotten hurt.
It was plenty comfortable for me to relax, and get lost in the campfire. I do think I found a bit of a starting point to get my mind back on track.

Awesome!! I love camping for the same reason.. I have a place that is maintained and I get free firewood.. The best part.. NO WIFI... or service.. it is just me and the trees.. I love spending time outside!
