The Roman Catholic Church recognizes at least three saints named Valentine, all martyred around February 14. Valentine the " friend of lovers " is probably the one we celebrate. It is said he defied the Roman emperor Claudius II, after Claudius forbade soldiers to marry because it made them less eager to fight! Valentine performed secret Christian marriages and was beheaded! Well, I am sure glad that we do not live like that now! But on a lighter note here is one we can all relate too!For ever beauty there is an eye somewhere to see it. For every truth there is an ear to hear it. For every love there is a heart somewhere to receive! I hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day! And have a romantic one! |
