When a person posts something of themselves online, it is very much an act of trust. One becomes vulnerable, literally exposed to the world. It is an act of bravery. The comments and feedback that follow, I believe, resemble something what celebrities must face.
There are good reviews and bad reviews and each must be taken with a grain of salt. Just as the positive ought not to go to one's head, the negative feedback must also not be taken to heart.
There are many, many websites catering to the amateur exhibitionist. None that I have found have been nearly as supportive to the individual as NN. The people that I have encountered here in the comments, PMs and chatroom are by and large warm, pleasant, supportive and loyal to NN's vision. I feel incredibly lucky to have found such a place, and hope that everyone who cares for it continues to hold a high and attainable standard.
The best way to do this, I believe, is to meet the negative with patience and dignity. By setting an example of integrity and kindness, of open-mindedness, acceptance and understanding, NN will continue to grow as a supportive and loving environment for exhibitionists and voyeurs alike. I believe that the only way to keep the negative to a minimum is for the positive to will out. Stick with it, folks - this here is something worth fighting for.
