kittykats1's blog post - Play ball!

Tuesday, March 6, 2007, 2:44:46 AM
I just got back from my kid's little league practice and I have a newfound respect for the men and women who willingly choose to coach very young children in any sport. They should be nomintated for sainthood! I don't know how they manage to wrangle a group of 7 and 8 year olds into a cohesive group, that can actually play. I surely would not have the patience. I was getting hives just watching it all. It is like a bunch of hummingbirds buzzing about, flailing away with bats, and tripping over eachother. They have the attention span of gnats, and the coach just keeps repeating stuff over and over. Buy that man a beer! Heck, buy him a keg, as their first game is this weekend. Hopefully no one will get hurt (my big fear) and they will all have a good time. I think they will, they enjoy the practices a good deal and there is no negative coaching and every child is given positive reinforcement plus the parents are very positive as well. No sideline coaching (thank god). I think it will be a great experience for the kids.

Puurrs to all,

Currently listening to: The sound of a kitten playing in a bag in the hallway...sooo fricking cute!

I think it's a little easier when most of the kids want to be there. I know that's how I was when I was a Little Leaguer!
