It's been a really busy few days; no time to sit and update this thing. I spent most of my Friday with my mom doing the girls day out and shopping. I see my mom all the time. We live but 6 streets away from my folks so we have a pretty close and constant relationship. But that day was a little different. She told me some things that I never knew about, about my father and our family that I had no idea. It was strange but very pleasant to have her open up like that. My mom tends to keep things close to the vest so it was a novel thing. It was like I could have asked her anything and she would have let it out, no matter what it was. She was in just that sort of mood. We had a really pleasant day together and I was actually sad it had to end, which is NOT how it normally is lol. Normally I would be like "Shit, I just want to get this over with, I have so much to do!!" Maybe that is what happens when you spend so much time with someone; you start to view the time spent with them as almost a sort of chore. After I left my mom I went to pick my son up from school and I was feeling kind of crappy. I had gotten caught in a downpour while out with my mom, I was literally soaked to the skin. I had been trying to fight off a nasty cold for the past couple days by eating zinc like a fiend, but I think I caught a chill. I was all shivery and had a small fever by the time my husband came home so I went to bed. He had surprised me by coming home a couple hours early so I could rest a little. He woke me up a few hours later and asked if we wanted to meet up with our friends T & K and their kids for dinner. I wasn't feeling like cooking and K had the same cooties as me (we both got sick at the same time). I said fine, because I had zero intentions of cooking. We met at a local family style place and had a nice meal. T & K are some of our swinger friends, but we spend a lot of time just hanging with them and doing "vanilla" stuff and that includes stuff with our kids. It is the ultimate example of "friends with benefits." It was still pretty early so we invited them all back to our house so the kids could play in the arcade. My husband converted a portion of our basement to an arcade with over 30 arcade games so we spent the evening playing games and hanging out. Another mutual friend - J also came over and spent some time as well. The kids were in heaven playing all the games and I could just sit back and relax. Everyone pretty much entertained themselves, so I could be a lazy hostess lol. I hadn't realised it had gotten so late until everyone left - it was almost 2 a.m. Holy shit!. Our son had never ever been up that late before so we put him to bed and we both went to bed as well. Saturday we spent shopping mostly, but we met T & K for coffee for a couple hours after we dropped our son off at his grandparent's house. We hung out and talked and gossiped and had a coffee. They had tickets to the Sharks game so we had to say our goodbyes and be on our way after about 2 hours. They went to get their kids and head to the game and we got our kid and went to the mall and did some more shopping and had a little dinner. We had basically spent the entire day out of the house so it was nice to eventually get home and relax for a few minutes before going to bed early. I was still feeling kind of ho-hum, but doing better. Those zinc lozenges I have been gobbling down seem to have helped a great deal. Now I have to get ready to head out for the day again, we have to go visit my husband's grandfather in the hospital. He is recovering from a hip surgery, so that and a trip to Costco is on our agenda today. Puurrs to all, Currently listening to: The hum of my hard drive |
