Friday, November 13, 2009, 5:49:05 AM- Family
You can pick your friends but you can't pick your family.

My sister is a good person who has made some bad choices. The problem is, I don't think she realizes how bad some of those choices have been. To make a long story short, she has found herself homeless. So, she needs a place to stay for a while. She arrived here on Halloween. Maybe I can have a positive affect on her. Or maybe not, lol.

"Time for a beer??"

Thursday, September 10, 2009, 2:37:51 AM- A modern mystery
I lost a can today. No, not a beer can (I checked, all those are accounted for). My yard waste can. It's green and has wheels. We had garbage pickup today. As always, I had my garbage, recycling and yard waste can set out overnight. This morning (alright, it was late morning) I was sitting on the throne and glanced out the window. I saw the recycle box was upended (that means it was picked up) but I didn't see my green yard waste can. There was a smaller grey can in its place. So I figured the yard waste guy threw one of my neighbors here and threw mine there. Well, I went outside and looked around and didn't see my green can. I took the gray can to one of my neighbors but he said it wasn't his. This evening I called the other neighbor and he said it's not his either. So, who's can is it and where the hell is mine???

No, this is not some stranger than fiction internet story, this is in fact a factually story. I don't know if I should call the UFO society (maybe aliens are responsible, and no, not the alien named Jose) or if I should call some fringe political organization (maybe the gubbermint is responsible) or if I should call the David Letterman Show (he likes funny small town stories). I know if I should use the grey/gray can some neighbor from down the street will see it and demand it back, thus leaving me with no place to put my yard waste.

Shit, this is giving me a headache, time for a beer.

Monday, June 15, 2009, 7:02:52 AM- Garden denizens
The bunny rabbit has taken up permanent residence in my tomato patch. I have a pretty dense stand of chives on each side of the row with a bare spot in the middle and she sits there like a fixture. She doesn't seem to mind my pressence, I was able to get pretty close for this pic, it's uncropped.

I found a Swallow Tail fluttering around. Looks like she has been through a battle, part of her tail is missing.

Sunday, June 7, 2009, 7:05:21 PM- The case of the missing tomato plant
I planted my tomatoes a couple of weeks ago. Most of them are doing well. Except one of them is missing. If you take a look at the photo you will see the cage that I had put around the plant. You will also see the identifying marker. But alas, no tomato plant. I can't figure out what the hell happened to it.

Saturday, June 6, 2009, 9:42:04 PM- Been a while
It's been a while since I blogged. Thought I would stop by and say hi!

I've been trying to get a picture of the moon that's sharp enough to make a large print. I added some new equipment to my bag of tricks. While I can get decent photos, when I crop and then resize them up, they just aren't sharp. I guess I need a much longer lens for that and that kind of lens is just too costly.

Here's the latest example of my moon pic.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008, 2:29:00 AM- Moon me
Re my prev blog, I posted that pic on a photo site and asked other members to post their moon pics. Got lots of good moon shots, some much better than mine and some not as good. Two dozen moon pics. The 25th poster posted a pic of his ass!

No, not my butt, I have that posted elsewhere on this site. The thing you see in the sky at night. It's made of green cheese, or so they used to say. A while back I had an idea about taking a picture of it. What I ended up with was a pure white circle on a ink black background. So yesterday I was talking to my brother and he gave me some ideas on taking it. I took a few pics tonite and ended up with one that's presentable.

You can see the craters. I'm going to enlarge it and look for Elvis; you know he's supposed to be up there.

Thursday, September 11, 2008, 3:20:37 AM- Tomato garden
One of the things I like to do is grow tomatoes. But I can't eat all of them while they are fresh so this is what I do.

First, I gather them.

Then I seed them and give them a ride in the processor.

Next, I apply some heat and let stew in their juices for a while.

While that is going on I go back to the garden and pick some more.

Finally, I serve it.
