Saturday, May 18, 2013, 12:32:45 AM- Harry Chapin's Taxi...
The late Harry Chapin is a fairly under appreciated singer/songwriter who died much too soon. This is one of my favorites.

Man, these guys were on top of their game back then. Tough to find a tighter keyboard and guitar combo than Blackmore and Lord. Strange to see Blackmore in his pre Fender Strat days... Long song, but worth the time. Who can scream like Ian Gillan and still sing clean and clear in the same song?

Sunday, May 12, 2013, 1:49:00 PM- Mother's Day...
Sitting here and thinking of Mother's Day (Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there ) and my mind wandered to my sister, who we lost back in 1990. I wrote my one and only poem in her memory. A special Happy Mother's Day to her. She lost her only child, but is still a mother to me. Memories of You I remember the day mom brought you home You innocent and small, I four years old I stared in wonderment, unsure what to do Now I have only memories of you We shared a room seven years or more Gosh how I hated it when you would snore Still, you were the one that I adored And these memories of you Santa, the pool table and swimming pool The hi-fi, the TV and walking to school Playing Sorry and checkers and Monopoly too Those wonderful old memories of you I missed your wedding, I regret that still Work too important, paying the bills Lost opportunities from foolishness too Causing regrettable memories of you The day that I lost you far less than fun Two men in a car, brandishing a gun One moment frozen in time and my memory too Now I have only memories of you I wish all you Mother's (and Fathers who had to sand in for then) a very Happy Mother's Day!

Friday, May 10, 2013, 3:17:35 AM- Who is your favorite female vocalist?
There are many outstanding female vocalists. Olivia Newton John is far and away my most favorite (some folks would be surprised by this). Beautiful then, now and forever. Wonderful vocal range and, I think, the best female vocalist of her time.

Thanks, Whisper, for turning me on to the person who wrote this one. Blackmore's Night did a fine job, but this folksy version has real charm to it. I watched several versions, but this one is really nice. I have to say I really enjoy the original. This is a truly moving song.
