Damn cops! They've been patrolling (bike cops) the lake where I ride my bike. This lake is the prime place in Dallas for riding, jogging, roller blading....sort of Dallas's Central Park. Well the bike cops have been out there the last couple of weeks, which you would think would be a good thing. At least 1 cyclist or pedestrian is killed out there every year by drunk drivers, reckless drivers, and/or xxxxxx drivers. The road around the lake is narrow and windy. Add the intoxicant of your choice and it becomes very dangerous. I've had several close calls myself. Also, there are rapes every once in a while, cars always being broken into and the occasional body found in the lake. In short, plenty of crime. I mean this is Dallas where we have the highest crime rate in the country. So the police have plenty of criminals and crazy drivers to chase. But is this what they are doing? Hell no! They are writing cyclist tickets for running stop signs. Granted we should stop. But in the scheme of things, this will not make the lake a safer place. No cyclist has ever been hit or killed at these stop signs, which are on park (low speed limit) roads. It's the reckless drivers on other sections of the road that have killed people.

Anyway, I came down the hill and through the stop sign yesterday. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the cops had a group of cyclist pulled over. I immediately put my head down and hit the jets. I heard somebody yelling at me, but with the wind rushing by my ears, I couldn't tell what they were saying???? I kept going, turned off the first chance I got on a road leading away from the lake and into the surrounding neighborhoods. I rode home on these side roads.

I hate cops...and Dallas cops especially. They are some of the most corrupt in the country. The list of wrongs they have done is long and well documented. Planting chalk dust on people and arresting them for cocaine possesion and then switching the chalk evidence w/ real cocaine before trial is one of the most well known, but there are many other instances of harrasment of law abiding citizens that have been proven to be true......I hate cops! Thugs with a badge!
