From National Public Radio: If you're keeping score, here's even more evidence that HPV causes oral, head and neck cancers and that vaccines may be able to prevent it. Researchers studying the human papillomavirus say that in the United States HPV causes 64 percent of oropharynxl cancers. In the rest of the world, tobacco remains the leading cause of oral cancer, Dr. Maura Gillison of Ohio State University told a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science this past weekend. And the more oral sex someone has had — and the more partners they've had — the greater their risk of getting these cancers, which grow in the middle part of the throat. "An individual who has six or more lifetime partners — on whom they've performed oral sex – has an eightfold increase in risk compared to someone who has never performed oral sex," she said. The recent rise in oropharnx cancer is predominantly among young, white men, she noted, though she says no one has figured out why yet. About 37,000 people in the United States were diagnosed with oral cancer in 2010, according to the Oral Cancer Foundation. People with HPV-related throat cancer are more likely to survive their cancer than those who were heavy smokers or drinkers, the other big risk factors. The message may be more critical for teens according to Bonnie Halpern-Felsher, professor of pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco. She has studied 600 adolescents over 10 years and found that oral sex is much more common than vaginal sex and that "teens don't consider oral sex to be sex," that they think "it's not that big a deal." She adds: "Parents and health educators are not talking to teens about oral sex. Period." Worldwide, HPV-related cancers seem to be increasing. Gillison said that Swedish researchers looking back over 30 years found that 23 percent of oral cancer tumors in 1970 were positive for HPV, but in 2005, that number had risen to 93 percent. The British newspaper The Guardian noted that Gillison said that "every birth cohort appears to be at greater risk from HPV and oral cancers than the group born before them." Over the past five years, health officials have been urging parents to make sure their daughters are vaccinated against HPV to help prevent cervical cancer. But these new results suggest that young men could also benefit from vaccination, though the costs would be substantial. While none of the researchers could say definitively that the vaccines against HPV, Gardisal and Cervarix, would prevent throat cancer, they thought it could was reasonable to think the vaccine could reduce risks as well. Well, yesterday was our 12th Wedding Anniversary, and you would have thought that since I made an effort to make a 'special' dinner, that she would have responded with some loving (especially since I had been asking for it since Saturday) but, no surprise, we went to bed and she rolled to her side and went immediately to sleep. Oh, well, what did I really expect. We did not have sex on our wedding night, why should our anniversary be any different? The Ex has been 'fluish' for the past 5 days so no activity there. Monday morning, I usually have a meeting with my boss, but this week he called and we met on the phone so I did not have to leave for work as early as usual. Even after perving on here and jerking off, I was still quite horny so as I went in to get a shower I figured that I would at least 'try' to get The Wife interested. Although it was not a *great* session, it was better than the last. I still cannot understand why per pussy does not taste as good as I remember it tasting in the past, but it seemed better than last time. Followed the sort of surprise that morning with my truck breaking down again so had to take it to the Ford dealer this time for another $400 in repairs (making for the current total of about $1,500.00). Here's hoping that there are no more bad surprises this week or next. | ||

Went to bed last night and tried to start something with The Wife, she says too tired, I say 'Figures'. Her response, why not stay in bed with me in the morning and cuddle, I point out that A) I do not like to just lie in bed in teh morning because it makes my back hurt, and B) she has to dog sit and has to leave for that while I fix up our birds. She does not argue and we both go to sleep. Me just more frustrated. What the Hell was I thinking???? I know the answer before I ask! | ||||

Got up yesterday and had a slow start. Getting shower warmed up and getting ready for a 10AM meeting and The Wife comes running into the bath saying you need to come quickly, there is something wrong with one of the birds (we have exotic birds)When I get into the Living Room, I find my 45 year Old Amazon lying on her back dying! We knew she was old and that she would not live forever, and I had noticed her becoming more feeble recently, but you never think that someone is really going to die. Anyway, I picked her up and comforted her as she passed away. At some point in the next few days, I will need to bury her, but the ground is frozen so hard right now, I am not sure that I could dig it. I did end up making my 10AM meeting, but nothing else. Needless to say, Wife was not in the mood last night and we both have to work tomorrow at a show. I hope everyone has a better weekend than I am at this point! | ||||

Went to bed last night and made sure to have the electric blanket pre-warmed so The Wife would be warm when she got in. She gets in and snuggles up against me so I figure she must be feeling 'amorous' I ask 'how about making love?' and the reply is that she is too tired and has to work early in the morning, so maybe Friday night. Yeah, I am not holding my breath! The worst part is that she then put her arm over me just inches from my dick and went to sleep leaving me somewhat excited and frustrated! same ol, same ol, I guess .... Then today she was supposed to have a 'long' day where The Ex and I could have had some time together, but due to the snow, she came home early. Just to top it all off, my truck broke down and I had to pay $750 for repairs on top of about $175 three days ago! Not one of my better weeks ...... | ||||

Well, now that we have lost our health insurance due to me changing jobs and The Wife loosing hers, she just noted that her Birth Control Pills are over $30/month. Since I had been thinking about getting 'snipped' so I could have better sex with The Ex, but could not find a way to suggest this to The Wife, now I may have a way ... we will see, I need to figure out what that would cost and come up with the $$ to start anyway. Just an interesting development, though. | ||||
