Our local trash disposal company drove down the street last night and delivered to each home a 96 gallon recycling container and a 96 gallon trash can. Mom's all stressed. Trash organization is one of the quirky traits she's developed over the last few years. She's quite aggitated by this latest development.

There was a bit of a shakeup at work last week. I was assigned some of the more important duties that the other secretary used to handle. She's now the permanent fill-in when we need coverage at the reception desk - I'm not to sit at reception at all. Suits me just fine. I've been busier than a one-armed paperhanger and the days fly by. I took my 3:00 break at 4:15 today! lol Overall, other than some hurt feelings for the other secretary, things seem to be running quite smoothly.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, between cold temps and lots of rain, I haven't had a chance to do any work on the yard and it's driving me nuts. The rain finally stopped this afternoon and the temp is in the upper 60s/low 70s. So... I'll end this blog now and dig up/move a few plants while dinner simmers on the stove. cya!

Happy Easter one and all!

The kids are old enough that I got to escape coloring/hiding eggs and making up baskets. WOOT! Because of their age difference, I've been doing that stuff for the last 20 years. I'm quite ready to stop, thanks.

I prefer hiding real eggs even though we never find at least one (usually two) until a couple weeks later when we wonder what that peculiar odor might be. oops. I guess one good thing about having a lousy memory is that once the eggs are hidden, even I get to search for 'em. lol

We woke this morning absolutely STARVING and decided to run over to a local restaurant that does up a real nice breakfast buffet. Before leaving I brought up the website and checked the hours.... yep.... Saturday and Sunday 7:30 a.m. Perfect! We head over, park, go to the door and... and it's locked. Huh? What the heck? I look at the posted hours... check the time... we stand there looking confused.... then Poohbare says "Oh! It's only Friday."

duh

Ahhhh a long weekend right around the corner. Pooh found out this afternoon that he WILL be off on Friday, so he gets to come home tomorrow....in his new-to-him Buick.

I don't know if I've ever mentioned my observation on Buicks. Mercuries fall in the same category. Pay attention in the days ahead and you'll see I'm right: Anyone driving a Buick or Mercury that's less than five years old is unable to go the speed limit. In fact, I'm convinced there's something programmed in that forces them to drive at least five miles per hour under the speed limit. Also, they must be driven by older people. Now all that becomes null and void once the car hits its fifth birthday. At that point, it can go faster and people of any age group can drive 'em. Lincolns and Caddies (new ones) are also driven by old people, but they boogie.

Go ahead. Drive around and pay attention. You'll see. Oh yes. You'll see.

Thank heavens Poohbare's car is an '04. I was worried that if it was newer, the trip would take 8-9 hours instead of the customary 6. tongue

Somehow I managed to sleep wrong and throw out my back. Pooh's been absolutely wonderful taking care of me, giving me backrubs, etc. I'm finally able to move a little bit again without gasping or yelping every time I turn.

When I was trying to find excuses to avoid weekend chores, this certainly was NOT on my list. =/

I concede defeat. I keep trying to give Poohbare a kiss, but the cat is lying on his chest and keeps darting his head forward to land squarely between our faces. I give up.

WOW what a long week it has been! So much to do and not enough hours in the day.

The issues at work seem to be settling down and things are relatively calm on the home front. The trees are in full bud and I'm itching to start working in the yard. It's still a little too chilly out in the early morning hours for that right now, but soon..... very soon. smile

It looks like one of our blueberry bushes survived. I'll need to get a few more in. Pooh needs to dig up his grandmother's grapevine and get it moved here. We also want to get another tree or two in this year. The raised flower beds in front of the house still need to be dug out and something different done, but little by little it's all coming together.

We should probably try to take care of a few things this weekend, but I think kicking back and relaxing is preferable. The yard will still be there next week, after all. smile
