That goofy cat "helped" me fold laundry this morning. Sure hope Poohbare doesn't mind the holes in his clothes where the cat bit 'em. =/

Ok. That's enough of that nonsense. Taking a deep breath and counting my blessings.

Poohbare and I hit the casino today. We didn't win, technically, but based on what we walked in with, we didn't lose $170 of it. Therefore, we're kinda-sorta ahead.

We play penny slots for HOURS and get just as giddy over a $6 win as we would over a $600 win.

We hit the buffet for brunch and I'd forewarned Pooh about the convo in status late last night so he was prepared when I avoided the chicken and started giggling to myself. Thanks a bunch, guys. They have damn good chicken and I couldn't go near it! grrr lol

Now for a nap before I fix dinner. NO it's not gonna be chicken. >.<

Hugs,

Just a quick drive-by

Business at the shop has been picking up dramatically. I cannot believe we've only been open two months! Silver and gold bullion appears to be the big seller of late, but the profit margin is minimal. Still, it's business and it brings folks in and they tend to buy other stuff while they're there, so it's all good.

A local writer also did a two-part article about the shop in a local paper, so there's some free publicity. Yay!

Life is good for us at the moment. Hope you can say the same.

xoxo

Yowzah! The spawn and I went grocery shopping today. Then we went grocery shopping some more. Why twice? Cuz I get certain things at the regular grocery, and other things in bulk at the warehouse store. Thank goodness we have two full-sized freezers downstairs. They are both packed. So are the storage shelves, cabinets, pantry, and fridge. Other than picking up odds and ends like milk and fresh fruit/veggies, I should be able to stay out of stores for a couple of months--maybe more. whew!

If I hear that kid say "there's nothing to eat" in the next 72 hours, ima beat her! lol

Not only is the write-up well done, the reviews have caused tears of laughter.

Oh, and before anyone thinks I'm taking a jab at anyone else, I'm not. This was on George Takei's facebook feed and I merely copied the link.

So.... I finished the baby quilt this morning. Here's a closeup of the bikercat fabric

I just used a easy pattern with three fabrics and simple squares

The finished size is 45" x 60" and the backing is one large piece of the bikercats smile

Hope the mom- and dad-to-be like it.

Been a long day, but a productive one. I've got the quilt all stitched together, batting and backing fabric stitched in place and all that's left is to finish the edges.

I taught myself how to quilt via the internet. The various sites always stress how important it is to cut the pieces to uniform size. I get pretty close, but am definitely not a perfectionist. Well, this time, I tried extra hard and HEY! Whaddaya know? It is SO much easier to put it all together when the stuff is all cut right. I mean, who knew? I might do that again next time. Crazy, right?

Anyway, I'll post a pic when it's done if photobucket cooperates. My sore back and I are off to sleep now.

Yeah...so...the Spawn has a friend whose a few years older and expecting a baby in a few months. Me, being the optimist that I am, had the brilliant idea of cross-stitching a baby afghan for the friend. Figured I'd be able to knock out one block per week and it would be done in plenty of time.

Yeah. Sure it will. Four weeks later and I'm 2/3 of the way done with the first block. Out of 12 blocks. oops.

So... since the afghan won't be ready til the kid's first (maybe second) birthday, I switched over to making a crib-sized quilt. I went to the store yesterday and texted fabric print options to the Spawn. She had no trouble choosing -- it's one she's seen before and likes a lot.

Now I'm making a baby quilt featuring cats on motorcycles set against a flame background. Cuz, you know, nothing screams "baby" quite like bikercats and flames. *giggle*

/shakes head, rolls eyes, and goes back to cutting squares

Hugs,
