Love the poem!

But hate the line: "If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim."

Fantasm, I've always thought that line to mean if you can think but also put the thoughts into action, ie, not be just a dreamer, but a doer also.

I agree that that's part of what he means, dirty. But I doubt that he's talking only about dreamers. He means more broadly, I think, that all serious thought is ultimately for the sake of deeds or actions. That is, he's rejecting the view that understanding or knowledge is worth pursuing for its *own* sake. This subordination of thought to action--or disparagement of making "thoughts your aim"--has become increasingly common. And it's ruinous, I think, to serious education--which depends on the view that understanding is both a means to wise actions and an end in itself. Strange place to have such a discussion! lol!

"If you can think ... And not make thoughts your aim"

You might "think" something but not "know" something. Your thoughts might be of good intention, yet they could cause further harm to a situation. What I feel is being implied is to not only act through your thoughts .. Or your rational mind (ego) but to also listen to the voice with in .. Your heart.. Your soul.
