Changing the oil on your car.
Do you change the oil on your own car?

How frequently do you change your oil?

What year is your car?

How many miles/km are you pushing on your odometer?

Most of the time. I let the shop change it sometimes while I'm getting other service.

I change the oil every 5,000 miles. It's got one of those oil life sensors in it, but I'm not completely sold on trusting it. According to the sensor I could probably go 7,500 miles between oil changes. Too skeptical.
What year is your car?
2006
How many miles/km are you pushing on your odometer?
72,000 miles

2004 Honda Civic, 106K miles, change the oil every 3500 miles.. and while I could do it myself, I choose not to, although it goes to a dealer to let them do it, not the local "10 minutes or less" oil change place... never was a fan of those... I'd rather pay a bit more and know it's done right. Never had any problems with this dealer, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

sometimes do it myself sometimes use the local service station but aim for about every three thousand, more than the handbook says but it keeps the engine in good condition.

I guess as a PS the Freightliner has 650,000 miles but these big rigs usually go at least a million 2 or so

I have a lot.

I have 3 Peterbilt 379's and 1 359.
All have over 1,000,000 miles on the actual trucks.

I have a 2010 Chevy 3500HD over 200,000 miles I change the oil every 15K-20K miles because it's a diesel and has double filters,2012 Chevy 1500 oil's never been changed I don't drive it much,2011 ZR1 Corvett I change it every 3,000 miles. I also have a '68 Chevelle SS.

I have John Deere tractors, 2 2013 8630R's 2 2013 7215R's and 2 2012 9560R's.
And 3 John Deere combine harvesters 2 2013 S680's and 1 2012 S670.

I service all of them everything from puting air in the tires to engine rebuilds.

oil change
I've only had someone else change the oil in my car once in 45 yrs. That one time is when I was on vacation. I like getting underneath and checking out things like tires, any fluid leaks, and exhaust system.

Always change it myself. Every 3000-4000 miles. I change the filter along with every oil change.

always have and likely always will, do the oil & filter changes myself. It gives me peace of mind knowing it has been done correctly, and with the proper spec of oil too. Plus, while i'm under the vehicle, it gives me a good opportunity to check for any fluid leaks coming from other components of the vehicle, loose stuff, rust/corrosion, etc
