My first blog and I apologize that there is nothing sexy about. However, if I get tired of telling this story, I can just say "read my blog". First, my daughter does not need surgery, but she will be in the hospital for a couple of more days. A few minutes past 6am on Christmas morning, we get a call. Is it our first Merry Christmas of the day? No, it is our daughter's boy friend telling us they were at the emergency room, and she had broken ribs. Bad enough? Not quite. A few minutes later he called and said she was being transferred to a different ER because the CT scan showed bleeding in the liver and surgery may be required. So we get dressed and text our expected guests that plans were on hold. We get to the hospital and she is still in the ER waiting to be admitted to ICU. We had just enough time to get the story, and you cant make this stuff. Our daughter tripped over the dog on Christmas Eve and hit the end of the couch breaking her ribs. Being a strong woman, hear me roar, she doesnt immediately go to the ER but waits for the pain to be unbearable, at about, you guessed it, 2am Christmas morning. They transferred her to the ICU and decided to wait and see if the liver healed on its own and the bleeding stopped. Since urgent surgery was still a possibility, my poor daughter couldnt have anything to eat or drink. After she was settled, my wife and I decided to have our planned Xmas get together and to just cut the time. Fortunately, or maybe just because she is smart, the food was prepared on Xmas eve. We had a Xmas lunch with all the original invitees except my daughter and her boyfriend. I felt everyone was appreciative of the food and gifts but much more appreciative of each other, Thanks for reading this. It helped me to write it. | ||||||
