Many of you probably know that one of my big life regrets is not having children. Most of the time i am fine, but sometimes I wonder "what if". This story is about this issue and it's true. When I first moved to the city I got a usual start up warehouse type of job. I worked with a tall lanky guy named steve. He was a few years younger than me and I would flirt with him and he would tease me (typical straight guy stuff...grabbing his crotch and teasing me with it) We always had a great time. All of us being young and stupid, I would hang out with him and his "woman". We'd party pretty hard and they were into a little more of the hard stuff than me. A couple of years pass and she gets pregnant. It all goes well and sooner than expected here's this happy healthy baby. Around this time steve mentions that I am the babies godfather and I think, Oh. About three months later I get another job and even though I liked those guys I was growing up and I didn't see steve until.... Six years later. I'm at another job and my roomate calls me and says "theres this guy named steve here to see you. He's on the front porch with his two kids" . I hurry home. steve looks as good as ever. And both of those kids are adorable. Out of the clear blue sky Steve tells me that he has to go to prison and I have to take the kids because I am their godfather. What? What? After much explanation about the why's and hows. I look at those two adorable boys playng on the slope of the lawn and I try to imagine what their life has been like so far. When both your parents are going to prison for drug dealing it probably hasn't been candyland (not the good kind at least) I really don't know what to say. I was honestly trying to imagine myself doing this. I knew I could do so much better. And I tried to question if this was Gods way of making me a parent. Steve could see my confusion and he said he would take the kids to the sitters and come back so we could talk some more. He loaded the kids in the car. And I never saw them again. Nothing. Did I miss my big chance? We'll never know.

I was thinking today of the tradition of the Irish wake. Durring the great migration families and villages would gather and have a almost funeral for someone leaving for america. What an odd thing that must of been. They were almost always saying goodbye forever. What we take for granted. It's still africa hot here. 95 tommorow! Gads Oh...vb....I got my electric bill the other day. I even ran my air conditioner for about 10 days. Only 30 dollars. Are you sure you aren't running any LUNNA type devices?

Geeez LUNNA I would'nt post a picture of something I hadn't grown. Still Africa hot....I'm thinking of storing panty liners in the freezer and switching them out. Did you read that story today in the paper about the cat that will sit next to someone (in the old folks home) that is about to die. Man, if I lived there I'd be "get away you demon cat" The cat has been right 35 times in a row. Better than most doctors and cheaper too! A friend just lost her job. I'm taking her out to celebrate. See ya

It had to happen and it has. It's so HOT. It's like 90 out there. And hummid oohhhhhhhh. 90 is hot for us far north wimps. Were in t-shirts come 60, perfect at 70. We think 80 is pushin it and 90.....well thats just crazy. So thanks vb for the plush carpeting, I won't be needing it. Lunna should you choose strawberry, here's a pic of them comming out of the canner. Personally, I'd wait. Who knows how blueberry or black currant or apple or rhubarb or crabapple are going to turn out? Should you choose strawberry...say the word and it's on it's way. Cause your a WINNER

Saturday, July 21, 2007, 3:57:50 PM- I now pronounce you chuck and larry
Oh don't worry. I completly knew what to expect...come on! It's a adam sandler movie about gay marriage for crying out loud. What I was unprepared for was how awfully crafted it is. There are some blue screen filmed scenes in the early moments that wouldn't of looked out of place on saturday night live 1978. I knew they would dig out every wham/village people/liza/barbra stereotype they could think of. Though why Lance Bass is singing in the last scene is beyond me. It just wasn't funny. not even a little. So LUNNA, pick your jelly. But the black currants won't be ready for another week.

Saturday, July 21, 2007, 4:53:34 AM- WOW
I think I just saw the worst movie I have EVER seen. Jar of jelly to the first winning guess. (and to make it easier....I went to the theater)
