And on a more serious note..... Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all who celebrate any one of the 23 other religions that have festive times at this time of year. That is the real reason.... for ALL to love one another at this time of year and be a part of the human race and not just their corner of the place.

Late..... but because of the Holiday season I don't expect wet noodles..........

My son has recently decided to get into glass blowing. He has a very creative streak in him .... complete mystery where that comes from ! He made me a Christmas ornament.... it is very hard to take a picture of such a beautiful object and do it justice. The light shines so wonderfully through it ... this is the best I could do . In this wonderful piece there are gold's and blue's and clear glass that shines wondertfully... hope you get the idea of how pretty it is.....



This next picture is of my latest creations. These are called Shaker Oval Boxes. They nest one inside the other. These are made from cherry wood. They will darken as they get older. I will be making many more of these also with variations. The Shakers were a religious group that were founded in the early 1800's. They believed in simplicity. But their creations were so beautiful in their constructions yet simple and elegant as well.

I realized that the final pics in my last blog were not very good. Ok they Stunk!!
So I was told by tighty that natural light is the best light so I took 2 newer better ones.
This is the final carving in better light. Showing some of the finer details. The soot on the chimney . The brass doorknob. The shingles and the rocks on the chimney.

Beautiful day out. Spent some time out on the porch and did some carving.
Started out with a piece of cottonwood bark looking like this...

Put some chisels to it..

Rough shape it a little


Add some detail....

Add some soot to the chimney...

Then take some pics...
