Fresh on the heels of discovering how AT&T is ripping me off, I received an email from Onstar telling me that the 2g network will be 'sunsetted' at the end of the year.

Sunsetted? You mean cancelled, don't you?

I wonder who got a bonus for dreaming that one up?

Only a few things will change, most notable loss of remote start.

That will be uncomfortable for many in the winter.

And for everything to work you have to be on the 5g network.

Oh, they're throwing us a bone by reducing the price $15.00 a month.

I'm going to follow this a little more, to see what expensive replacement they come up with.

If I'm not convinced, I'll drop them like a hot potato.

I already have AAA.

Silly me, I thought I needed Onstar to have XFM radio.

Things will again be changing soon.

Got my latest bill from AT&T.

Made my last payment on my cell phone and expected my bill to go down.

Silly me.

Instead of going down $16.00 a month, it increased $33.00.

The reason? Data plan increase.

Enough is enough.

I started the process to switch cell carrier today.

Not only am I getting a new phone for $200.00 less than the same one listed on the AT&T site,

my bill will go down $95.00 a month.

You can only jerk the chain so many times before the chain jerks back.

Sunday night was a tease of Fall to come,

when you alternate all night between needing that blanket over the sheets and throwing it off because you're burning up.

Well, the weird guy across the street who kept trying to have people that live here let him into our secure building to do some laundry (even though he never had any laundry or detergent with him when he asked) has moved on.

I saw the maintenance people last week preparing his old apartment for a new tenant.

So I'm thinking there's going to be a little peace and quiet around here for a while.

HAH!

Man plans and God laughs.

Saturday afternoon, as I was unloading groceries from my car, I heard someone talking rather loud - actually cussing really loud.

Walking by on the street was a disheveled looking middle aged man, talking to himself.

I watched him walk down about a block then turn around and head back the way he'd just been.

Still cussing loudly to himself (? or maybe he had an invisible companion).

I followed his path as he trod away and around the corner, eventually disappearing from view.

I went about my business, but a thought occurred to me:

Just when you're thinking crazy is gone,

it comes back to visit you once more.

It might be time to saddle up for another crazy ride.

Elizabeth had been queen my entire life. She assumed the throne the year I was born.

A very long reign indeed.

And now Prince Charles is king.

My God rest the queen and may God bless the king.

Last night I dreamed I was house sitting a mansion.

I had no idea who owned the mansion. I was asked to watch the place for a friend who couldn't be there, kind of subcontracting.

I got a phone call from the guard shack at the front gate, telling me the owner was coming.

A little nervous. I knew whoever owned the house was obviously rich and, or, famous.

Finally, I see a Porsche flying up the gravel drive.

It slides sideways to a stop by the front door.

Getting out of the car was Kate Beckinsale.

As I stood there stunned, she laughed at my expression

and thanked me for 'watching the place' while she was gone.

She gave me a peck on the cheek and asked me if I would stay for dinner.

Yes, I then woke up...

but with a HUGE smile upon my face.

While a lot of people are having a cookout (or grilling, or BBQ, depending on what part of the country you're in), I'm having a

'cook in':

Potatoes in an air fryer and

burgers in a George Foreman grill.

And, of course, watching baseball.

A lazy day for the last lazy days of summer.

It's 76 degrees and cloudy, with the threat of rain.

To those people I say -

Go to California,

where the temperature is hovering in the 100 + degrees.

Be thankful for what you don't have right now.
