Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

Friday, March 6, 2020, 7:14:21 PM- Clocks
I have, ever since I can remember, always been fascinated by clocks. I was told that as a baby, I would stare and reach out for my Grandparent's clock as it chimed the hours. In school, I became a clock watcher, not for wanting the classes to end so much as watching that second hand move, counting off the seconds of every minute. My late father received a medium-sized wind up clock for his first 25 years of service at his job and it was proudly displayed in the living room of my parents house. Whenever my parents went on vacation, I would drop by the house to see if any bills came in the mail that needed paying, or I would shovel snow in winter and mow the lawn in summers. And yes, I would make sure that clock was properly wound. I find the tick-tick of a clock to be soothing and will sometimes turn of all music or television sound to just listen to the steady ticking as I sit in my recliner. One of the joys I had as a young man was when I worked for about a year as a furniture deliverer. Not the sometimes physically challenging lifting of heavy furniture, but spending time transporting and setting up the grandfather clocks customers bought. The owner of the store loved clocks, too and had a rather large clock department. Seeing that I loved those clocks, I was eventually given the job of maintaining those clocks, making sure they were properly set and wound. The first and only real thing I missed about the job when I moved on to something else was the care of those magnificent clocks. Everywhere I've lived, I've kept an old fashioned alarm clock with me, the type with the bells on top and the little hammer between them that travels back and forth if you set the alarm.Generally, it has always been displayed somewhere in the living room. If the power goes out, that's all you hear is the ticking. When the power comes back on, it has been sometimes used to tell me what time to to set my other clocks. It's a nice little wind up clock I received as a present and has outlasted relationships, automobiles, jobs and even the person who gave it to me. It is a small thing, but one of my prized possessions. I now own two small smart clocks. One in the bedroom and one in the living room. They remove the hassle of resetting the clocks should there be a power outage, or if I should forget about the time changes twice a year. My favorite is still the little wind up job and it's usually my first look for the proper time. Tomorrow I am buying a new wall clock. It has the proper clock face, with the numbers for the hour and a proper second hand that clicks off the seconds. The different feature it has will be a blue neon ring around the clock so that you can see it in the dark. I'm quite sure that it will become a conversation piece for friends and family when they visit. I can hardly wait to set it up. It's about time. ~

Friday, March 6, 2020, 4:22:26 AM- Apologies
I try to write a little something every day. Yesterday was an exception. I got lost in some Lindsey Stirling videos and had no time left to write before I had to leave for work. Sorry. I'll try to do better in the future. ~

I cannot call in to my place of business from where I work (my company sub contracts there) because their WiFi is restricted. People who work in the office can use it, but people who work in the plant (production workers and people like me) are not allowed usage. SO I either have to walk over from the building where I work to one of the other buildings and use an ipad to clock in/out, or use a hot spot 2 blocks away. I could call in/out from home, but, since I don't get paid to drive to/from work, my options are limited. Very, very nice to work in a place where if you are not a member of the elite, you are screwed.

... every day - or you should. I listened to this on my way home from work last night: A real classic. But, I found something out... I've been singing it wrong all of these years. Mick sings 'git' instead of 'get' throughout the song. I am thoroughly admonished and I promise to sing it right from now on. ~

Sunday, March 1, 2020, 2:41:41 AM- Feb. 29th
The old myth states a woman can ask a man to marry her on Feb. 29th. I received no such proposals today, so I took my frustrations out on cleaning my home. Trust me... it's now spotless.

Once in a while it takes a few days to process a dream. A few days ago I had a dream about the love of my life, whom I lost at age 25. We broke up in 1978. I last spoke with her in 1979, last saw her (without getting to speak) in 1989. She married a guy I grew up with (I'm not lying) two months after we broke up, pregnant with our child. Her and her husband stayed here in town a couple more years while he finished college, then moved to Alaska, where they've lived ever since. After going through (like the old song says) about a million girls, even being married, I've come to realize she was THE one. Okay, I know it's my fault I lost her and will never see her again, let alone get back with her. But I still occasionally dream about her. The last one has had me shaking my head in awe. It was so real. Her baby sister took me back to the place where they lived when I first met her. Suddenly, she ran out of a neighboring apartment, through her arms around me and started kissing me passionately. Her hair was tied back in a poney-tail, but had gone gray (it has been over 30 years since I've seen her. Even my dreams can update. lol). After much reflection, I've decided that, although it was a dream that will not come true, I will content myself to think that (at least in my dreams) the passion remains strong and that we will love each other forever. ~

Thursday, February 27, 2020, 8:09:14 PM- Murphy in the house
A short version of Murphy's Law says that what can go wrong, will go wrong. I believe it: Got my new mobile phone. Started to get it going. Hit a roadblock - To activate the new phone, I must first log into a Wi-Fi account and I can't remember the password. I am still connected on my old phone. I've looked everywhere for the password and can't find it. BUT! There IS an app to find out what that password is, so I downloaded it. It takes 24 hours, so hopefully it will be worth the wait. I sure hope I can get around old man Murphy. ~

Tuesday, February 25, 2020, 7:29:37 PM- Good day, so far!
1. We changed the way we clock in/out at work yesterday. Now, we have an app for that. I can do it with my mobile phone. 2. I'm all set up with my new Mastercard. It's got the Red Sox logo on the face. 3. My new Samsung mobile arrived in the mail today. Sometimes the stars align in your favor, I suppose. BUT - Even though the optimist in me is smiling, it's only 2:30pm. Fingers crossed.
