Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

I watched this great classic last night. 'Thin Man' series regular William Powell, Carole Lombard and a host of superb character actors. Well worth the time.

This is one of those songs that can really transport me back in time. A simple little song by a family group The Cowsills, who had other hits at that time like 'Hair' (from the musical) and 'Indian Lake'. I love this song, because as a teenager I had a similar experience in the late 1960's. Ahhh...

Tuesday, May 7, 2019, 6:42:51 PM- Feet
I am definitely my late father's son: same face, same shape of eyes, same crooked grin. Built the same, but 2 inches taller. The only real differences in us physically is hair and eye color, both of which I got from my mother. As I age, I see the biggest resemblance is feet. Yes, they look the same and are actually a size bigger than my late dad's. I notice more and more the greatest 'sameness' is temperature. You could walk past my dad in the summer when he was kicked back in his recliner and touch the bottom of his feet and they would be icy cold. I have had a reminder today. It's 75 degrees and here I am in t-shirt, shorts... and socks, because my feet are cold. I can live with having the same looks, the same groans and mannerisms. But cold feet I can do without. And if all I have to complain about is cold feet, then life is going just fine.

For the first time in Kentucky Derby history (145 years), a winner in the 'Run for the Roses' has been disqualified. This makes me glad that one of the few vices I never obtained in my life was betting on horses... or boxers. ~

Didn't win the lottery, so I will return to work on Monday. In the meantime... The sun is out, the grass is green, flowers are blooming everywhere and I'm smiling. Yeah, there's more to life than money.

I had a strange dream of the day I was fired from a job I held for almost six years, back in the '90's. I was waiting for the company to write my last paycheck (I hung around to get it just to piss them off). Most of my co-workers were saying nasty things to my face( In reality, only two people said anything when I did the same thing in real life and a couple of people stood up for me, which I enjoyed watching.) and trying to push me around. I woke up, had a little laugh, took a piss and went back to bed... ... and had the same dream again. I said some ungentlemanly things this time, then woke up for good. Contrary to what an old moovie title says, sometimes once IS enough! ~

I suppose real life can be like baseball: Three strikes and you're out. Last night I went to bed, after two nights in a row of insomnia. I turned out the light, got comfy and couldn't drift off to sleep. So I turned on the tv, watched something insipid on the tube and yawned. I figured I might as well give it a shot, so off went the tv. I snuggled down under the sheet, closed my eyes and... the next thing I knew, the alarm clock was going off. I got up today feeling refreshed and renewed. Ah, what a few hours of deep sleep will do for the mind and body!

Thursday, May 2, 2019, 6:15:38 PM- Insomnia
For the last two nights, I've had trouble falling asleep. Last night it took me around an hour and a half to drift off. I'm usually affected by insomnia when the weather starts to warm up. My body needs to adjust to the weather. Growing up, I would usually sleep 6 hours a night in the winter and 4 hours a night in the summer. As I've grown older, It has grown to 7 hours a night in the winter and 5 to 6 hours a night in the summer. I don't work weekends. On Saturdays I get up at my regular time because I have laundry and grocery shopping to do. I like to get those out of the way so that I can relax the rest of the day and evening. Sundays I turn off the alarm clock (Saturday night) and lie in bed until I feel like getting up. It's my lazy day. I only venture out of my place to top off my gas tank and to maybe take a little cruise. Sunday nights I actually have the time to cook a big dinner, then watch a movie or two before bed. During my transitional stage from cold weather sleeping to warm weather sleeping, I've been know to take a nap during the afternooons on the weekend. Soon I will be adjusted to the weather. I take comfort in the interval of transition that I know my own body and that all will be well soon. Adjusting to cooler weather is easier. I just lay down and BAM! I'm out. I believe the experts are right... switching to Daylight Savings Time DOES affect our bodies. Now... if reading this hasn't put you asleep, go take a nap. ~

Wednesday, May 1, 2019, 6:47:38 PM- In the beginning...
The grand old pastime in America... baseball. The rules have been tweaked over the years: Originally, a batter got four strikes and nine balls, and the pitchers threw underhanded (think fast pitch softball). The catcher stood about 10 feet behind home plate, probably because they, like everyone else, didn't wear a glove. The game has come a long way in the 180 years that they've been playing baseball and through it all there have been some great moments. Sometimes I wonder, like Adam Sandler has here, if they weren't making it up as they went along. lol. :
