Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

I've just come off a chat with a classmate who lives across the country from me. On Facebook. About hair. Well, at least it was something different. ~

If you keep dreaming of an enemy's head being displayed in a glass case, you might just have some issues with someone that need to be addressed. In the meantime, try to maintain calming thoughts while around this person(s?) and stay away from sharp objects.

Tuesday, May 28, 2019, 2:18:20 AM- I was almost asleep...
... when the tornado sirens started going off. I got up out of my recliner, walked outside and stared at the southwestern sky for around 15 minutes. The sky went from almost black to gradually gray. The rain went from coming down in buckets to a light sprinkle. I thought about how years ago a tornado was heading towards the trailer I lived in out in the country. Realizing I didn't have time to go anywhere in search of safety, I grabbed a bottle of whiskey, a beer, my smokes and walked back to the safest place I could find - the bathroom. I poured a shot, opened the beer and lit a cigarette. I waited a few minutes, then knocked back the shot, drained the beer and took what might be my last hit off the cigarette. When nothing happened, I went through the trailer to the kitchen and looked out the windows. All was calm and getting clearer. At that time, I shrugged it off and carried on with what I had been doing. This time, no preparation. I figured if I saw a funnel cloud I'd head down to the basement and say my prayers. When nothing looked like it would happen, I went back to my recliner, turned on the t.v. and continued on. A long life can prepare you for a potential catastrophe. ~

Sunday, May 26, 2019, 10:44:31 PM- Again
While working to hook up my hdmi cable yesterday, I accidentally disconnected my computer. No worries, it started back up just fine. Unfortunately, I somehow wiped out my bookmarks, so I've spent the last hour re-visiting sites and adding them back. Sometimes I'd just like to shoot this damn thing.

Sunday, May 26, 2019, 1:10:43 AM- Well done
I must pat myself on the back today. Every year on Memorial Day Weekend for the past 17 years (since my Mother passed away), I have been going to three cemetaries around town to put out flowers for departed family members. I have one sister living in California, so the burden has been accepted by me to honor the dead. I'm not complaining. I feel saddened that so many of my relatives have gone that I often come up to their graves and see that no one has left any flowers of remembrance. It made me think today: What happens when I'm no longer able to do this? And then I thought: Will anyone leave flowers for me when I'm gone? It was supposed to rain today and as I walked to the last two graves on my journey, the skies were turning purple and dark. I drove towards home and as I parked my car in the drive. it started to sprinkle. About five minutes after I walked through my front dooor, the skies really opened up and it poured down for an hour. I sat in a chair by the window in my living room and watched in silence. Another year, another job accomplished. Another year honoring the dead. Another year with my mind being flooded with happy memories of those who have travelled on. ~

Friday, May 24, 2019, 6:01:31 PM- Lucky
I was talking with a person who was in high school at the same time I was. We agreed it's a good thing there was no internet then. We both did a lot of stupid things, which kids are still doing today. She told how she had heard a couple of kids had been kille, trying to change drivers while traveling down the road. I said I had doone that once, while drunk. She stared at me in disbelief and said I was lucky to be alive. I told her my guardian angle worked overtime for me in my younger, wilder days. I then played her this song and sang the lyrics: "Everything that kills me, makes me feel alive." Sometimes you catch the bus, sometimes the bus catches you. ~

Wednesday, May 22, 2019, 6:30:37 PM- The Chinese Fire Drill
When I was a teenager, a Chinese Fire Drill was quite common. Some of you might not know what a Chinese Fire Drill is, so I'll explain. It's when you have a carload of people and, while stopped at a traffic light or a stop sign, everyone gets out of the car, runs a lap around the car and gets back in... akin to a bunch of clowns at a circus getting out of a small car. A lot of fun to do and it usually made the people in the other cars smile or laugh. The old Volkswagon Beetle was the most difficult, being so small. I thought this practice had died out, but then I saw on Youtube that it is alive and well. Kudos to the people keeping this tradition alive and especially to this group taking it to the maximum.

I finished watching this version of the Victor Hugo classic on PBS Sunday night. If you want the story without all of the singing, this is the one for you. ~
