March Madness must be waning... I actually found (for the first time in almost 3 weeks) toilet paper in a store. I was shocked at first, but then I saw how lonely that four pack looked on that big empty shelf space and I knew I had to take it home with me. Like a little puppy at the animal shelter, this 4 pack will be taken to a loving home and will get my undivided attention for quite some time. Kinda brings a tear to my eyes. ~

They're shutting down the factory for a week (supposedly all three buildings) where I work. My main Supervisor came by and gave me the news Friday. I had two options: Go on cleaning detail in the buildings where production is, or Do a little 'spiff up' of the building where I mainly work on Monday and Friday. I chose the latter. A few hours over two days with three days off in between sounded better. It's only me I have to look after at home, so I can tighten my belt and take the hit money-wise. BUT I later heard from the people in charge of two of the buildings where I work that the offices there will be open all week. I don't think the boss knows that, so... stay tuned for further developments. ~

John Carpenter's movies have always been entertaining for me. Quite a list: Halloween (the original) Escape from New York They Live Big Trouble in Little China just to name a few. This is one of my favorites: Starring Jameson Parker (from t.v.'s Simon & Simon), character actor Victor Wong, Carpenter regular Donald Pleasence and even a small part for Alice Cooper. It made me smile on a rainy, virus heavy worrying day. ![]()

Another rediculous task at work: We go around and do our usual thing of wiping down door handles. BUT, there's a new added insanity. Now we have to put a sticker on each door, color coded for the day of the week, to show the door has been cleaned. I have to find out who is in charge of these stupid orders. One shouldn't have to prove one is doing their job! ![]()

I work for a cleaning company. We do all types of cleaning for all types of businesses. I am a supervisor, overlooking the work done at a three building facility (a factory) owned by a large corporation. Corporations have rules - lots and LOTS of rules. These rules come about from these corporations having been sued countless times, which I can understand. This is not my first experience dealing with a corporation. Years ago I worked for General Motors in one of their factories. The major difference between then and now is that the GM plant was a union shop, so if you violated a rule, you pretty much received a slap on the wrist. This place is non union, so if you break a rule you can be fired, or in my case, the company I work for can lose it's contract. So you comply. Whether you like it or not. Our service is vital now. Keeping places clean is definitely something necessary that benefits everyone. In their wisdom, this corporation has deemed to create a new rule. We now have to have our staff initial a calendar placed on the doors of the restrooms when we have finished cleaning the area. And, of course, I know have to walk around to each restroom and make sure that each place has been not only cleaned but initialed. It is our job to make sure each area has been cleaned. But to have these people initial these places as proof? I consider that to be an insult to our professionalism. Cleaning is what we do and we are proud of doing a good job every day. Corporations can be idiotic sometimes, in my humble opinion. ~

My friends living on the west coast of Florida report that their beaches are jam packed with kids celebrating spring break, because the east coast beaches are closed. Incredibly moronic and selfish children! ![]()
