If you get up in the middle of the night, in the dark, to use the bathroom, be very, very careful where you walk.

You should see how black and blue my little toe is after connecting with a table.

Turkey & trimmings for Thanksgiving - check.

Laundry finished - check.

Gas tank topped off - check.

Beer stocked up for four days off starting Thursday - check.

Movies recorded to watch over holiday - check.

Looks like I'm ready for the upcoming holiday.

Last Tuesday, the high for the day was 21 degrees. On my way into work that day, I drove past an ice cream business that has been here for a long time. The latest owners keep it open year around. It is a walk up business, with no inside seating.

On Tuesday past, with, like I said, the temperature at 21 degrees, people were actually braving the cold to but ice cream.

You have really got to love their ice cream to stand outside in freezing temperatures.

Had a dream I was hanging out with John Lennon at the Dakota apartment he had in NYC.

Lennon was being his brassy self, but Yoko would walk by with a Mona Lisa grin on her face without saying a word.

Just one more thing that makes ya go hmmmmm...

I have a car that's 26 years old. It is really hard to find certain parts for it now.

Like a door latch.

I was driving it around today, running errands. You have to leave a window partially down or you can't open the door from the outside.

Well guess what? Yep, I forgot and rolled the window up.

After 15 minutes of using a coat hanger (yes, it's happened before) to try to reach the inside door latch, a young man pulled up and asked if he could help. It seems he works for a company that installs windows in cars and he had the right tool to reach the latch. Much better than a coat hanger.

He popped the door open with little difficulty. I asked how much I owed him. He said no charge.

I shook his hand, told him he was a good man and thanked him for his effort.

He drove away with a wave and I felt humbled and a bit like a little bit of confidence in my fellow man had been restored.

Yes, there are still good people out there in this usually cold, cruel world.

God Bless him and others like him.

I must pay this bit of charity forward as soon as possible.
