Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

All winter long, people complain about the state of the local roads. The city just can't seem to keep up patching potholes. Now the weather is warming up and repaving has started. On Friday, the city repaved the long stretch of road all the way past my house to the roundabout 1/4 mile west. So nice to drive on a smooth road again! ~

Recently reconnected with an old high school crush on FB. She looks GOOOOOOOD! Bad news is, even though we spend a lot of time "talking" daily, she's engaged, and I'm not the type (any more) to try to interfere. Ah, life! You had me going there for a moment. lol

Friday, April 13, 2018, 6:46:38 PM- Tooth update
So Monday I went to a new dentist, since my regular dentist (who is VERY good) is booked solid until June (yes, he's THAT good). All I needed was a filling replaced (chipped the old one). After x-rays, he tried to talk me into having a crown placed on the tooth. Cost: $1,225.00. Since he was going to put a temporary filling in, I said o.k. There is still some pain and I can't chew solid foods on that side. My next appointment is the 23rd. Can't wait to see the look on his face when I tell him I've changed my mind and want the bugger pulled out instead. I'm 65 years old and the tooth is in the back of my mouth, so no one will notice. I'm not vain enough to spend $1,225.00 for something no one will even see. It will be our little secret, o.k.? ~

Sunday, April 8, 2018, 11:36:34 PM- So Far...
This year I have had the flu, and just when I thought I was getting over the flu I had a relapse. Then, bronchitis kicked in, leaving me with a nasty cough for two weeks. After that, I got a sinus infection... 10 more days of fun (if you like pain). On top of that, I chipped a filling. Two more weeks From it happening to wait until I could get an appointment to have it replaced. On Monday, I finally get in to get some relief. It will be nice to be able to eat solid food and sleep without constant pain. One of the truly rare times I want the weekend to be over. Hello Monday, my new friend! ~

Friday, April 6, 2018, 6:25:38 PM- Paid in Full
According to the IRS, I owed $3,775.00. The reason being that (get this) I received tax credits to lower my Health Care costs. I switched from Health Care to Medicare in August, when I turned 65. But (supposedly) because I made 400 times the poverty level to receive tax credits, I have to pay the tax credits back. Last year, $13,000.00 working part time and received $9,000.00 from Social Security. Social security is non taxable as long as I don't earn over $16,000.00. How can $13,000.00 be 400 percent higher than the poverty level? Beats me, but I paid the amount they said I owed anyway. My late Father always said that you can't fight city hall. True, and the U.S. government is a lot bigger. So I grumble, but I comply. They sent Al Capone to prison for tax evasion and I am too old to serve time now. Lesson learned and life goes on. ~
