A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I was attending college. In one of my classes, the subject of rewards for doing a good job came up. A lot of my fellow students talked about big rewards, such as clothing or jewelry... even a new car.

The instructor, hearing all of this, asked what the reward should be for a small job well done... like maybe if you're trying to lose weight or stop smoking and you make it through the day without eating too much or didn't smoke.

The class was silent. After a few seconds he said to give yourself a small treat, like going to a movie calling someone you miss talking with. Whatever makes you happy about the small jobs can spur you on to doing better at the bigger tasks ahead.

I've had a good week so far. Personal and professionally. Today is my short day of work... only five hours.

To celebrate, when I get home tonight I will have a Coca Cola and a medium sized bag of Doritos Heat Wave BBQ Nacho Chips.

Life's simple pleasures. That's what pleases me today.

NOT feelin' the love today.

What burns me up is people you don't or barely know making insensitive comments on what you say in social media. Case in point:

On Memorial Day, I left what I thought was a beautiful tribute to all of our veterans past and present on Facebook. Almost every comment was nice and respectful... even had a couple of shares of the post.

And then comes the negative yahoo, who is a friend of a friend, that makes a long rant about the U.S. being an Imperial, war-mongering country that are baby killers! That I wouldn't understand what it's like to be poor and abused.

Well, I deleted the comment and reported them. THAT problem is solved.

But saying I don't understand what it's like to be poor and abused? Brother! I was raised in a poor area. The middle school I attended for three years was 95% black and I saw prejudice from the other side. When I got to high school, the so-called "rich kids" made fun of me for being poor. Through all of that, I maintained my sense of humor and found quite a few people liked and respected me for being a nice guy.

I still see abuse everywhere I go, but overall? I see a lot more good, friendly people here in the U.S. than all of the nay-sayers who seem to get all of the press.

Here on NN, I try to be respectful and nice to women in my comments. On my blog, I try to use humor as much as possible. Some people get my sense of humor, some people don't. When someone leaves me a nasty comment or message, I delete it and then block them. Easy-peezy.

I won't let negativity slow my roll... I'm still the nice guy.

Sometimes ya just gotta vent a little, ya know? O.K. Show's over. Back to what you were doing. That's all I've got to say...

I had a lot of money, I'd go to Las Vegas and purchase an expensive call girl for the night.

I can't say that I've never paid for the company before. Every date I pay for is like putting money down for a future major purchase... without seeing what I'm paying for.

I've never paid a stranger to have sex with me... unless you count all of the drinks I buy her.

I had a friend who used to go to bars and approach each woman by only saying one thing to her: Ya wanna fuck? He got slapped a lot, but once in a while he got lucky. I tried it once... and was told to leave before I went to jail. I was too drunk to see her police uniform.

I saw a friend on Facebook put a comment up about how a neighbor was washing the bumper of her car in the rain. She thought the person was crazy. Two thoughts sprung to mind:

1. I can remember washing my own car in the rain when I didn't even have the money to go to the car wash and

2. Maybe she was trying to get the blood off before the cops arrived?
