Saturday, May 11, 2013, 12:07:10 AM- Weather
It has been above seasonal here. More summer than spring like. Today was cooler and rainy and my first thought stepping out doors this morning was camping. This weather reminds me of camping. There is always a much cooler day. A day when it is going to do nothing but rain. A day that will pass extremely slowly because there is nothing else to do but sit under the tarp and play cards. A few hours later my friend picked me up and commented on the weather and I told him it reminded me of camping. A smile crossed his face and he said yes it does! Reminds me of my annual fishing trip. It always got cool and rained. This kind of day brings back many, many memories of huddling under a tarp at a picnic table struggling to keep a fire going, staring off into the forest, listening to the rain hit the leaves and the hiss of it hitting the fire. It brings back memories of warm sweatshirts, the loamy smell of the woods, the silence and resignation that not much was going to happen that day. It isn't an unhappy thought it's more of a wistful one. It is peaceful. It calls to me. I can't wait to go again, ju

Thursday, May 2, 2013, 12:04:16 AM- Spring has sprung
The birds woke me before 5 this morning. I did my best to get back to sleep to no avail. Just as I was drifting off an hour before the alarm was due to go off I hear squealing brakes and the unmistakable sound of car hitting car. So I got up to see what was going on it was just a minor fender bender but I was awake and I decided to start my day. I had time to make k2 a big breakfast then carried on with my usual routine but in a leisurely fashion and eventually got ready for work. I strolled out of here confidently knowing there was no reason to rush. I took the long way around and checked the mail. I said hi to a neighbour and then I sauntered to work. Usually I am in a rush but nope, today I was going to enjoy the walk. I greeted a few people I pass regularly along the way all of us basking in the first real spring like day. I stopped at the convenience store where there is a bank machine to check my account. All was better than expected there. I got into work, had a chat with boss lady for a few minutes and then it got busy. We were working our asses off for almost an hour when boss man and I were standing side by side and I noticed him giving me a funny look. For a split second I wondered if I had fucked something up then he said to me "Your shirt is inside out" I lost it laughing, went to turn it right side out and carried on. What a dork, ju

Saturday, April 20, 2013, 11:51:46 PM- It's a small, small world.
Couple of years ago 2knude was up here and we went to a concert. While waiting for the train to come back to my place we struck up a conversation with a guy who looked like he had been to the same concert and he had. We ended up sitting together on the train and I discovered he teaches at the high school I went to. It was mind boggling to find out some of the teachers I had way back then were still there. He was a nice enough guy. He got off before we did and I didn't give it another thought. Until a few minutes ago. I got a text from 2k, who is in another state for a concert and said he ran into a guy who after they got talking said he remembered 2k when he said where he was from. I asked if it was high school teacher dude and low and behold it is! I do hope they enjoy the show! *humming* It's a small world after all" ju

Friday, April 12, 2013, 12:32:27 AM- I just love this word
It totally fits the way I feel right now. Knackered adjective (British, slang) exhausted; tired out worn out; no longer working, esp after long or hard use. Unfortunately it is not in a good way ju

Thursday, April 11, 2013, 1:58:54 AM- April 10 2013
Winter storm warning in effect. A wintery combination of ice pellets and freezing rain on the way. Periodic rain will affect the area tonight, but a more wintery change is on the way. Colder air will arrive later tonight and coincide with an approaching low currently over Missouri. Ice pellets mixed with some snow are expected to develop on Thursday in the warned regions and generally change to freezing rain later Thursday or Thursday night. It may very well fall heavy at times. Poor travel conditions are expected over the duration of this event. In particular, the Thursday afternoon commute may be challenging with icy conditions on untreated roads. Of greater concern is the risk of widespread power outages due to downed tree limbs and power lines due to significant ice accumulation combined with northeast winds gusting to 60 km/h. There is a risk that this could be a major ice storm for an appreciable swath of Southern Ontario. It should taper off by Friday morning with temperatures rising above freezing. There is still some uncertainty as to the extent of the cold air. This will have an impact on how much falls as ice pellets versus freezing rain. Freezing rain will have a higher impact with power outages and slippery roads and sidewalks. But the expected 5 to 10 cm of ice pellets will also be problematic for travellers. Global warming is so 2012. ju

Monday, April 8, 2013, 7:58:17 PM- It's been a long winter without my BBQ
The burner disintegrated at the end of the season last year and I wasn't too worried about it because being a crap BBQ it doesn't hold the heat like my old one so no winter grilling. Now that the temps have been climbing up to the magical numbers for it to hold the heat I am getting antsy. We have just come up with an idea and I can't wait to try it out! (Will let you know if it tastes as good as we think it will) but I have to wait till next week to get the burner Tapping my toes and drumming my fingers, ju

I don't understand why everyone is so mad at Lance Armstrong for winning 7 Tour de France races while on drugs. I could't even FIND my bike when I was on drugs.
