Wednesday, April 25, 2007, 4:12:00 AM- Tiny Blossoms
The weather has been crazy this spring. I don't know if the lilacs are going to blossom. But my Prunus Cistena is in full bloom today. From a distance it looks like white specs against a red background but up close they are beautiful. The blossoms are no more than 3/4 of inch or so.

Monday, April 23, 2007, 4:09:00 AM- Casino Royale
I have a friend who now lives in another state and he is a big James Bond fan. Recently he asked me if I have seen Casino Royale. When I told him I had not, a DVD of it arrived in the mail a couple of days later (I had sent him one of my precious Cuban cigars). Damn, that is the best Bond movie yet. A classic espionage story, full of action and played perfectly by the latest incarnation of Bond, Daniel Craig. A must see if you like action movies.

Yesterday at this time I was wearing shorts, sitting in the back yard smoking a cigar. Today I am wearing a sweater, looking out the window at the snow flakes in the air. An examination of the peach tree shows it is springing to life. I hope the freezing overnight temps won't hurt it.

Monday, April 2, 2007, 5:29:20 PM- My little corner of the Earth
It's been a week since I posted the pic of my lilacs which showed the foilage was no bigger than the nail on my little finger. This past week we've had moderate temps and some rain. The lilacs are starting to fill out nicely. The blossoms are starting to appear. The grass has turned green and the neighbors willow is showing signs of life.

Saturday, March 31, 2007, 4:55:20 PM- Internet shopping
It never fails to amaze me. I go online, look for what I want, a few clicks of the mouse (in some cases just one click) and in 1 to 3 days my item is sitting on my doorstep, often delivered for free. I have bought just about anything you can think of on the net; clothes, all kinds of photographic equipment, window treatments, bed and bedding, cigars and even a book from the UK that wasn't available in the US. Well, I have recently ventured into buying my everyday groceries on the net. My favorite local grocery store closed. So rather than go to the other stores that I really don't care for, I decided to try the online grocer. I was blown away, you go down the virtual ailses just like you would in a real store. Everything I could think was available. They even offer beer, wine and distilled spirits. Name brands as well as regional store brands are offered. Heck, they'll even deliver postage stamps and transit cards. So a few weeks ago, I placed my first order. When I checked out, I didn't have to wait in line, lol. The delivery arrived within the time frame specified. The deliver person didn't just drop the stuff at my door, he carried it in the house and asked where I wanted him to put it. The freshness dates on the perishables were better than what I usually see at the regular store. The cold food was cold and the frozen food was frozen (they use insulated containers). The produce was perfect. No doubt about it, I am hooked on internet shopping.

Sunday, March 25, 2007, 9:01:35 PM- Spring is here
It's a little humid and windy but the temps are in the 70's f. The lilacs are budding. Right now the buds are no bigger than the fingernail on my little finger but soon they will be full and lush. My back yard is like a swamp at the moment. I hope it dries out a bit.

Thursday, March 15, 2007, 7:14:48 PM- Signs of Spring
Spring is near. Yesterday I went outside without a coat. The Snowdrops are blooming and the rabbits are screwing. Most ppl don't know what Snowdrops are. They pop up in late winter and are the first things to appear in my yard. It's a sure sign that spring is near. I have attached a couple of pics. ******** edit to 2Nimfs question: Yes, they sprout from bulbs.

I am not sure about whether or not I like this new blog format. I'm going to smoke a cigar and have a beer while I contemplate it.
