We have a "fun" issue at the moment: we still don't have any doors. We took out the old doors, but we don't know when the new ones will arrive, hopefully in a few weeks. Well, fortunately we do have a door on the bathroom. But the toilet on the second floor doesn't. Such a pleasure to sit there doing your "thing" being able to see the parking lot of the company next door, and knowing that someone only has to look in your direction to see things that should be left unseen

Saturday, May 30, 2009, 8:32:25 AM- Phew, weekend?
Maybe not so "phew", lots of work to do around the house, and we need to clean out the apartment before handing over the keys. But the sun is shining, which makes it just a little less depressing On the job front, one of the guys I get along with at work is probably going to become my boss... Major changes are planned in our organisation, restructuring of departments, and he is probably going to get an important role. When during an informal conversation he starts telling me that he has lots of plans, including some changes in my job description... Should be interesting, but a bit nerve wrecking not knowing what's going on. He did say that someone like me (my degrees) shouldn't be doing administrative work, but more (semi) management, so it could be a good change. Exciting times

This long weekend (Thursday to Sunday) we're going to move into the house, Saturday being the most important day as we've rented a moving van for the large furniture. On Saturday, my parents and bf's parents were going to come over to help. Bf's dad has decided to come over today already till Saturday. Bf's mother has decided to come to the house tomorrow as well. And what did I decide? Absolutely nothing. Which is why I'm pissed off... Side note: yes, I know that they only want to help, but quite frankly, to me that doesn't excuse not asking how we feel about the timing etc.

Tuesday, May 19, 2009, 8:52:04 PM- And the living room...
... is nearly done too, just some finishing touches, and the doors of course! After 5 hours of cleaning, we can actually see the floor now

Tuesday, May 12, 2009, 5:27:05 AM- Jeans
Levi's 515 mid rise boot cut, size 14 short. I bought three pairs of these in the US, as they fit nicely (which is a miracle in itself). The three pairs have been worn through, as I have barely worn any other pants, and I have "abrasive" inner thighs And now it turns out that this model is not available in Europe. Not even via internet, international shipping is not allowed!

Sunday, May 10, 2009, 8:59:12 PM- Politicians, a letter
I received a letter today from two members of the Brussels parliament (from a French speaking political party), concerning a proposal they have with regards to the green areas and roads in Brussels. It was stamped on the outside "do not throw this away before reading it, this is not election propaganda", less than a month from regional elections. I sent the following e-mail in reply, in Dutch AND French: "Dear members of the Parliament, I just read your letter concerning the "green arteries" in Brussels. Firstly, I found it quite amusing that apparently this isn't "election propaganda", but that's not the main reason of my e-mail. What surprised me the most was that this letter was sent only in French. You ask the remarks and suggestions of the population, but perhaps you have forgotten that Brussels is bilingual? Or maybe you are only interested in what the French speaking population has to say, because they could potentially vote for you, and the Dutch speaking population probably not? Or is there another, valid, reason? I hope you realise that both French speaking and Dutch speaking people in Brussels have the right to be adressed in their mother tongue. Sincerely" This is the first time I've ever addressed a politician, and I'm far from a "Flemish/Dutch minded" person, but I have my rights, and they've been disrespected one too many times.

Saturday, May 9, 2009, 9:39:05 AM- Slowly but surely
The hallway and stairwell look a whole lot better already. The white walls have only been painted with primer, in the end it should be a light and dark grey on the walls. As for the living room, bf isn't convinced on the colors, but he gave me carte blanche so tough luck Imagine a sofa in warm red to complement the colors It's unconventional, but I've never been one for following trends And the floor looks great. It should turn out a bit darker, as the floor is pretty dirty in the photos.

Friday, May 8, 2009, 5:28:55 AM- Spring clean
Our land lady has decided to show people around our apartment, as we're moving out at the end of the month. The "fun" part of it: it's at 10am tomorrow. Too early for a Saturday... And we have some major cleaning and organising to do before this place is presentable. I've already filled three boxes with books, but loads more stuff to go... My new mantra: "I will clear the clutter"
