Thursday, May 7, 2009, 9:01:30 PM- It's our earth
I went to an exhibition today called "It's our earth". It was about the earth's ecosystem, global warming, pollution, etc. It was interesting in many ways, but one particular statistic sticks in my mind... Each year, humans as a whole consume 5250 cubic kilometers of water. I don't know about you, but I can't even fathom a cubic kilometer of water, let alone 5250...

I was carrying two books with me, to read while going to and from work: Leif Enger's "Peace like a river" and Stevenson's "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde". At the end of "Peace like a river" the author mentions that his mother used to read him Stevenson. And then, when looking for travel destinations (hiking holidays in particular) I come across a hike in France called the Stevenson route, a hike the author made himself.

Tuesday, May 5, 2009, 5:17:29 AM- Holiday shopping
We're trying to figure out where to go on holiday (and with what budget). We've decided to take some time off during the week of our national holiday (21st of July) because then we only need to take 3 days off to get away from work for 9 days, and we'll probably go to the Mosel region in Germany in a cheap little hotel or B&B. Our "real" holiday will be the second and third week of September, and finding the right destination is very masochistic... I've seen so many beautiful destinations that will be probably be out of the question for our budget: Argentina, Norway, New Zeeland, Tanzania... We're thinking about Scotland now, any pointers (and what to visit or how to save money) are welcome

Friday, May 1, 2009, 9:54:05 AM- Frustration
I'm starting to feel a bit like a second rate home owner. Bf's dad comes over to work on the house and nobody consults me, bf's mom comes over to visit, and no one asks me if I'm fine with it... Am I supposed to be a silent partner in all this? I get to choose the paint colors in house, wow, that really compensates

Tuesday, April 28, 2009, 6:55:49 PM- My patience
... is wearing thin... And that goes for the house (workers who don't show up as planned) and the work place (people on my project that won't do what I ask)... I actually want to work out ( miracle in itself), to get rid of my frustrations, but the purchase of my home gym is on hold at the moment, for budgetary and practical reasons. My boss has suggested shiatsu massages, as she has the exact same problem as me, blocked shoulders and neck, most likely stress related. It sounds awfully tempting...

Well, we didn't get much done today, we just bought varnish for the stairs and vacuumed the stairs and living room. The floor isn't quite clean, but at least it's visible And it's looking pretty good, even without the skirting boards and grouting done. Slowly but surely we're getting there...

Friday, April 17, 2009, 6:01:23 PM- And more new...
The new floor has been laid! And what a difference it makes... It's still dusty as hell (the actual color hard to see) but the demolished living room looks a bit less demolished now And now I must eat dinner and get ready for a party I don't really want to go to...

Wednesday, April 15, 2009, 10:32:18 AM- Spring cleaning
No, not in the house... But I have done some serious cleaning in my blog, I've only left the more relevant/interesting blog entries. 2 pages out of originally 40 pages I think... A small step for mankind, a huge leap for me

Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 3:11:51 PM- F***
Bf's dad will be staying in our house from today till Friday, which means he'll be here in the apartment every evening till then, including for dinner... Apart from having to clean the apartment within the next two hours, I'm not exactly looking forward to his company... He means well, but we're not really compatible...
