| Friday, June 2, 2006, 4:58:57 PM- Gotta share this | ||||||
I gotta share something from my grocery shopping experience today. You know how there seems to be a flow, an order of the same people going up and down the aisles. Well today I needed to break that flow. I wanted to get to the breads but this guy was taking his time pondering what bread to buy....and he is standing right in front of my brand. I pondered interrupting his thought but figured it couldn't take that long but it did. He finally moved so I seized my loaf of bread and was finally ready to move on. Next stop Hellman's mayonnaise. Hey it is the south and ya gotta have mayonaise. Damn if this guy isn't hoggin the aisle aain. So I wait and he inches up a bit giving me just enough space to get the mayo on the bottom shelf. So I lean forward, reach out and grab a jar when suddenly this guy farts and right into my face. My god man. Now it wasn't a silent but deadly type, nope it was a ripper. Dead in my face. He didn't even look around but just moved on...I'm there gasping for air, people are cracking up until one woman, god bless her, asked if I was ok. I said yes but I think I will shower when I get home. So I broke the flow and avoided that guy for the rest of this particular shopping experience. True story.

| Friday, May 12, 2006, 1:43:34 AM- NN's Musically Effete | ||||||
I want to say right up front this blog is not directed to all of NN's music lovers. It is directed to NN's Musically effet and of course the problem here is they don't know they are. To my one very special friend, she is not musically effect and has indicated a great desire to learn more. I am impressed by that. So here it goes: Don't think you are the only generation who loves music and that your music is superior to anyone's elses. Music is generational and great music spans generation and classic music spans time. I have to crack up when music bravado goes on in the chat rooms. It is so absurb, so absolutely telling of the void of intelligence or appreciate they have for music. Their's is sacred and profund, all others are profane. Well I love my music which spans all different classifications and I will challenge you to listen to a few that I will list here. Please feel free in response to offer some of your selections you would like me to listen to as representing a few of your cherished favorites. I will be totally receptive to that offering. Opera, yes opera I enjoy some of it not all of it but I will list two arias that will demonstrate to you why: Catalani's La Wally. The Maria Callas version is absolutely wonderful and there are a few others out there that equal it. Puccini's Nessun Dorma. Both Jose Carreras and Luciano Pav have excellent versions. I will save a writing on blues if you want me to for later but now I will move on to jazz. My favorites in jazz go on and on and on but I will list a few: Chuck Mangione: Before he went orchestral and popular he had a great quartet. My favorite of his quartet is called, Little Sunflower. John Mayall is superb in many different venues but his jazz piece (on his Turning Point album) is fabulous: California Eddie Harris and Les McCann: They have a spectacular version of Compared to What. Ron Carter: Very special versions of My Romance and Summertime. Famous song titles: Django, A night in Tunesia, Round Midnight, Green Dophin Street. Singers: Carmen McCrea, Ella Fitzgerald, Sara Vaughn and currently Diana Krall. I have interesting stories I can share if interested about Louis Armstrong, Bob Dylan, Carmen Mcrea, Sara Vaughn, Stevie Wonder and Tina Turner. So to the musically effete; you probably aren't impressed and nor should you be because this is the selection of my music whish is no better than anyone's elses because music is personal unlike what you claim it to be in your diatribes. Believe me they won't even read this and in fact I will be very shocked if anyone but one reads it at all, lol. So maybe my cherished friend was right afterall, lol.
