Sunday, January 13, 2013, 4:26:57 PM- Stress, its a killer!
Stress its a killer is a line from the old cartoon Fern Gully but man does it sum up the weekend so far. A lot of ya'll might know we had a litter of pups a week ago and they have been such a joy really.
Unfortuantly tho it is Mama's first litter and she ran into a nasty wall yesterday morning. She has a problem with her calcium levels and was very close to death.
The solution was easy, if ya got the $$$$ and well... that we don't. It was heart wrenching searching for help to save her life, and heart breaking that a simple fast cure was available. Just two shots, one calcium and another glucose and she lives. The hard part was hearing the tone every vet I spoke to developed when I said we only have this much to pay up front knowing that the life of an animal was hanging in the balance and that when they knew only half the cash was there they changed to apologies for your loss. She was still living and saveable if not for the missing 400 bucks to cover the bill.
Luckily for our beautiful Delilah we would not give up. We found a vet that was more than willing and understanding that in these days money and credit isn't what it used to be. They saved her life, with open arms and not even a blink. She was only a short time away from crashing from calcium loss, having seizures, moments from death. It was a frantic and stressful day, and within fifeteen minutes our Dee was on the upside again. Just two little shots and an overnight monitoring and she was saved by a vet she'd never met, who was concerned for her life and not the cash up front.
She is home now this morning, still wanting so badly to feed her babies and be a good mom. Of course she can't do this as it will throw her right back where she was, and the pups have taken to the bottle so all is looking to be a happy ending.
But I will never forget the strangers that saved her, replaced our tears with hope, and cared for a life more than payment up front.
Thank you for our Dee de Dee!!!

Tuesday, January 8, 2013, 1:43:31 PM- One Sperm has 37.5 MB of DNA information!
So this video is a couple minutes long and while I loved it, might be boring info to some. All I ask is you give it a good thirty seconds and listen to the amount of data it would take to transfer one ejaculation!
f.y.i. 1 Terabyte = 1024 Gigabytes.
