Monday, June 3, 2013, 8:41:01 PM- Last leg of our journey

We've finaly come to the last of our jouney that started more than a week ago. It's been filled with joy and sorrow; old friends, good family, new beginings, and final goodbye to a long and storied life.

Seeing our beautiful niece grown and smiling at the alter before those she loves brought smiles to our faces and tears of joy to our eyes. There was time spent enjoying family and friend for days to come, cook outs, dinners, cold beers, and mexican chips and dip washed away with margaritas and laughter.

Not long after all these good times had been shared a phone call from close to home brought bitter sweet news. Our beloved grandfather had passed peacfully in the early hours of the morning. Our journey that was near it's end would now continue to another of lifes milestones.

Now instead of returning home to Houston for a couple days of relaxation from all of our excitment before the grind of our day was to return, we had a new destination. It was now a drive through the night to East Texas, just over the state line from Louisiana.

Once again we found ourselves with old friends and good family, an unexpected moment to share remembered stories. Though we found smiles and joy together over the weekend, they were brought to us with grief and sorrow. What we started as a celebration of lives come together too start new, it was too close with the memory of two that began a journey together 48 years ago with a marriage that brought life to the family with us today.

This morning we laid our Grandfather to rest, next to his beautiful wife who left us two short years before. We gathered at the small cemetary in the country side they loved together and built a life upon the land. While we felt sorrow from our loss, we found peace knowing that the amazing love they shared with each other as well as all of us that came from their union as one, were once again united.

As the miles between there and home grow shorter, I reflect on the memories of everything. I feel the warmth of the Texas sun on my skin, the love of our family in my heart, and the satisfaction that we've enjoyed this journey together.

That's a long drive! I even managed to arrive with a full head of hair... well except that one part that's reced..no no we don't talk of that haha! Ding dang kids will drive ya bonkers tho =P

Well I see that it's been like a week since I posted here! Hope you all behaved =P
Not much new going on here, just the usual naughty. Will be leaving on vacation/wedding end of the week, very excited to get the drive behind us. Whole lotta hours cramped in a car... AHHH!!!

Monday was a rise and shine... no F you Monday!
Early morning Dr. appointment is finished up tho, so eh maybe Monday will work out ok after all.
Went well, always good to meet a new Dr. that tells you I never recommend surgery when I meet a patient for the first time... Anyways when do you want to schedule surgery? LOL
About time tho really, I'm pretty ready to have my arm back and functioning.
