Monday, December 24, 2007, 5:28:28 PM- He's Here!
I'm a Grandpa! So as not to confuse anyone new to the Depotguy saga. I am a firm believer in the "family of choice" idea. When I looked around my life and realized I was not going to have children of my own, I decided to have children of choice. One of my "sons" was killed in a car accident in florida and it was one of the saddest days of my life. So today, on one of the happiest, I stop and remember him and how I would of felt had this been his child. So the details....It's a boy. 8.3 pounds, 22 inches. I can't wait to meet him. His dad and I cried on the phone today and those tears were some of the happiest I'll ever shed. Life is funny sometimes. You have to learn to make happiness where you find it. Merry Christmas friends

My friend steve called me today to tell me that he'd gotten a certified letter in the mail detailing his payout of a 44,000 dollar pension payout he didn't know he'd ever had. It really couldn't of happened to a nicer person. I hope that happens to all of you as well. Edit: if i've done my math right sweet little Alpina is a blushing bride now.

I think I've lost the magic of christmas. I have faith in the spirit of the season. I just lack the enthusiasm for the whole drawn out parade of civility. I am not a scrooge, far from it, but there are people and things I'd just rather not experience. How about you? some relative that drives you crazy? The only 2 things I am looking forward to: The college of St.Olaf christmas concert on PBS wed night, and the gift I made for my dad. I took the best of my photos from the last 2 years and made a book (mypublisher rocks!) He will like it and I don't have much money this season. If anyone would like to see it I could send you the link. I'd have to feel a little comfortable knowing you though. I miss LUNNA, my favorite crazy cock loving rican bitch

I thought I should see the woods behind my barn. I guess I own it. I just followed the deer trail and poof! I was at the far corner. Overall, the woods are prettier than I expected. It would be fun to cut a scenic cross country ski trail through them.

Thursday, December 13, 2007, 9:03:13 PM- Whats left
While I was snapping pictures the other morning I took this photo of the remaining grain elevators on the harbor. There used to be many, many more. Through the years other methods have evolved to ship grain. These elevators that are left still see much use. It's a proud moment when the old timers watch them try to tear one of these beomoth's down. They are built to last. Several companies have went bankrupt when they underbid a teardown. I suppose you can't tell from the photo's but they are about a 1/4 mile long. Thats a lot of grain. Just a little slice of my town

I had something to say. Nothing good nothing bad. I went to a fancy sit down holiday dinner last night at a private club in town. Being one of the organizers I showed up an hour early. So happy I did because i got to sit and have a drink with the pianist for the evening. She has just turned 80 and boy can she tickle the ivories. she was telling great stories about the supper club hey day of the sixties and seventies. Oh she can tell stories. It was fun, I hope i have stories when I'm 80.
