Friday, June 24, 2011, 1:27:54 AM- Mother Nature's a bitch!
Last Saturday, 6/18/2011 Mother Nature slapped the residents of our little city right in the face. Official reports put total rainfall from the night before at 4.5 inches. However, residents in the area had as much as ten inches in their gauges. While the heavier rain was spotty, mainly on the east side of town, the results were easy to see. We experienced major flooding, as the creek that runs along the east and north sides of town flooded to levels not seen before. A trailer park was totally flooded and residents there had to be rescued by the county water rescue team. The high water levels in this creek also backed up the "town brook" which is where all the storm drains empty into. This flooded too, damaging several houses and flooding the basement levels of several buildings at a local college. The worst of it though was the damage to the city's fresh water treatment plant. The plant was flooded and contaminated so we've been under a boil order since Saturday morning. We cant drink, cook, wash dishes, bathe, etc with the water unless it has been boiled for five minutes. Also, the pumps to pump water from the city wells in the Illinois river bottom to the treatment plant were damaged etc, so currently the city is using a auxiliary pump to pump the untreated water into the distribution system. Which means the capacity to move water is greatly reduced. So, no laundry, no washing cars, all the local restaurants cant use their fountain drink machines, and we aren't even supposed to shower, as the water isn't "safe" for that even. The good news, no one lost their lives and things are getting back to normal now. Hopefully the water treatment plant will be back on line sometime next week, but for now it's a real pain in the ass. Here are a few pics I snapped with my cell phone while out and about that day. Sorry for the poor quality.

Monday, June 20, 2011, 12:31:01 AM- So I haven't been on much lately, if you hadn't noticed. :P
First off My wife is doing much better. She's recovered nicely, and at her last appt. Friday the doctor took the wound vac off and released her from any restrictions. Thanks to all for the prayers and positive thoughts. Also, I've been working all the OT I can trying to make ends meet, so I haven't had a lot of time to perv lately. One of the main reasons I haven't been on a lot is it's just not a lot of fun to hang out in the forums anymore. The constant bickering and name calling and finger pointing and all the BS has just gotten out of hand. I don't really care who started what, I just want it to stop. Of course, I have no authority to do shit about it, but it seems a fucking shame that NN has made a lot of improvements to the forum only to have them turn into a battleground. So I guess until the time comes when I can get online and laugh and joke with friends, I'll just drop in for a quick look now and again. And that's all I've got to say about that. DC

Tuesday, June 14, 2011, 1:10:19 AM- :)
I'm tired. I'm working all the OT I can at the moment, just trying to make ends meet. Loosing my wife's income back in April hurt. But we're making it. She's doing great as far as recovery goes. She's got maybe one more week on the wound vac. It's amazing what that little vacuum pump has done. Due to the risk of infection setting in the doc put her on it, which means leaving the incision open. Basically she had a 5" long incision that was maybe two or three inches deep to start with. It was wide too, an inch and a half or so. Now, she has a incision that is about three inches long, a half inch deep and maybe 3/4 of an inch wide. The internal healing is basically done and now each time the nurse changes the vac dressing she pulls the edges a little closer together, which should reduce the size of scar my wife will have once she's totally healed. On another note... My son started football practice today. He's going to be a freshman this year and decided he wanted to give it a try. At 14 yoa he's 5'11" and weighs 224lbs. Yes, he's a big boy, The coach took one look at him and said, "Welcome to my defensive line." LOL Anyway, he's at practice now and I've got to go pick him up soon so I'll cut this short. I may be on a bit later, if I don't fall asleep. 60 hours a week is kicking my ass. DC

Friday, June 3, 2011, 8:12:59 PM- Wife's doc appt. went good.
He said another week, two at the most, and she'll be off the wound vac. She's healing great and he gave her permission to do whatever she can tolerate... So when I walked into the bedroom after a shower a bit ago with a hardon the size of Texas (hey, it's been a month!!) she says... "I don't think I can tolerate that right now." ( LOL But she did give me a hell of a blowjob/handjob combination, without me even asking, so I ain't complaining. She wouldn't let me get her off though, afraid the muscle contractions in her stomach would worsen the pain. Anyways, I'm off to the wake of a man from down home. He was 78 and the docs say his heart just gave out. I used to do odd jobs for him, buck bales/fix fence etc and deer hunted with his boys many a time. He'll be missed but he's finally with his wife, who passed over a decade ago. RIP Frank. I'll buy you a beer when I get there.

Monday, May 30, 2011, 1:24:31 AM- Hello :)
A friend sent me a PM and I realized I hadn't been on for a few days. My wife is doing fine. I've heard the wound vac called a miracle worker and so far I have to agree. The visiting nurse changed the dressing on Thursday and the incision was about two inches deep at that time. When she was here Saturday to change the dressing again it was only an inch and a half deep. The nurse said that for people who heal quickly, which my wife does, sometimes a couple of weeks is all that is need. Still no signs of infection and the pain level is dropping so she isn't needing as much morphine as before. She actually got out of bed today, with help from my Mother (I was at work), and spent most of the day sitting in her wheelchair watching TV. She even gave my son directions so he could prepare supper and have it ready when I got home from work. She kind of overdid it though and got to hurting, so she took some painkiller and went to bed. Thanks for all your prayers and all. She's over the hump now and just needs to take it easy and heal up the rest of the way. I've nursed her through a lot but now it may be her turn. A visit to the doc over recurrent sinus infections and sore throats revealed that my tonsils are in his words "rotten" and need to come out soon. I told him it will have to wait until my wife has recovered so he put me on a strong antibiotic to help until I can get them looked at by a ENT specialist. Has anyone had their tonsils out as an adult? If so, how long a recovery am I looking at? I can't afford much time off work, or time when I can't take care of my wife. It's funny, besides a few "minor" broken bones over the years I've never had a real serious medical problem, no surgeries, and never spent a night in the hospital as a patient. It's not something I'm looking forward to. DC

Wednesday, May 25, 2011, 5:25:45 AM- Welll she's home!
Of course, even though I got to the hospital at six pm, she wasn't actually released until 10:30pm. So now it's 1230AM and I have to be up in four hours to go to work. She's doing good, still loopy from the morphine, and I'm wiped out. LOL I'm going to bed. Night all.
