I took a week off work, well ten days in all really, to take care of my wife after her surgery. I figured while she was sleeping and recovering I could be around to help if she needed me, and maybe I could get some things done that I needed to get caught up on around here. So, I got the remote put in for the ceiling fan and light in our bedroom, fixed two leaking pipes, cleaned out one drain, fixed a loose gutter, got my garden tilled and planted, hauled off a bunch of scrap metal that was piling up along the garage (and made $30), got rid of the no longer functioning "beer fridge" in the garage (anyone got an old fridge they want to get rid of, must work LOL), and got my garage cleaned out. Fuk it, I'm ready to go back to work so I'll have some time to relax. LMAO

Saturday, May 7, 2011, 4:42:13 AM- We're home. :))))
We're home and she's asleep, hopefully for the night. The pain killer the doc gave her really knocks her for a loop, LOL. We got to the house to find *surprise surprise* all our families that could make it waiting there. *HEHEHE* Remember she didn't want a big birthday bash... Well she got one anyway, LOL. Of course everyone said the best present was knowing she didn't have cancer. I couldn't agree more. To keep from tiring her out to much we got her in an easy chair and she was queen for a day...okay, an afternoon, since we didn't get home until around 3:30. We had cake and ice cream, yes she got to eat some, and she dozed off and on and just sat there and grinned at times, LOL. After everyone left I got her in bed and she slept for a bit, then woke up and ate some supper, KFC no less. Hey, it's what she wanted. Long story short, she's home, doing great, and I can't thank each of you enough individually, so here's one great big *GROUP HUG* LOL. HEY! Watch those hands.

Friday, May 6, 2011, 12:03:53 PM- So far so good.
Have you ever tried to sleep in a hospital? LOL First off the chair that pulls out to make a bed isn't all that comfortable, but I made do. Then with them coming in every hour or so to take vitals, etc... Yeah, I got to sleep around 1 AM and was wide awake again at four...which is about normal for me, four hours of sleep that is. My wife's doing great as far as recovery from the surgery, she's off her IV and the oxygen and doing wonderful. So now we wait some more for the test results. The attending checked her about an hour ago and said the drain they installed last night can probably come out today and she'll go home this afternoon as long as they don't find any cancer. So now we wait on the pathology report some more... FFS, can't they speed things up? In other news, today's my sweetie's birthday...The big 40 no less. Happy Birthday my love. (I know you'll be reading this later.)

Friday, May 6, 2011, 1:28:24 AM- Long day...
So they finally got her a room. The wait was five hours since we requested a private room since I'll be spending the night with her. She's watching Grey's Anatomy and I'm perving on here, LOL. We're both trying to keep our minds off the outcome of the tests they are running on the growth they removed. It was about the size of a cherry tomato according to the doctor, and of a type that is only cancerous 15% of the time, so the odds are in our favor. Thanks once again for all the thoughts and prayers. DC

this time on a room, LOL. We've requested a private room so that I can stay with her. She's sitting up in bed and letting them know she's unhappy with being in recovery for five hours, LMAO! Thanks all for your prayers and support. Now, once we get a good report on the cancer test tomorrow (fingers, toes, etc, crossed) we'll be headed home. )))

Just talked to my wife. Surgery is at 12:30 tomorrow afternoon. I was hoping for an early time as I read surgeons are at their best early in the day.

Wednesday, May 4, 2011, 3:34:45 AM- Time flies...
I've been trying not to think about it, but Thursday is my wife's surgery. We won't know until tomorrow what time she has to be there but we're hoping for a morning slot, preferably the FIRST one in the morning. I've been working my ass off lately, what with all the OT and such, so I took a weeks vacation starting Thursday to be with her during the worst of the recovery. Hopefully they don't find any cancer cells and I can bring her home Friday... if they do, who knows how long she'll stay. Keep her in your prayers. BTW, our son, who is 14, has asked to skip school that day and go with us to the hospital. His reasoning... "Dad, I'll be to worried about Mom to concentrate and since I can't have my phone in class I'll have to wait until 3pm when schools over to find out how she is." I can't fault him and I'm inclined to do it. What do you all think, is he to young to be there?
