The person who says it can not be done should not interrupt the person who is doing it. -Chinese proverb

Just thought I would post the images that I used to help me get my Casablanca blog challenge pics done. The scene was Rick(Bogie) talking to Sam ,in typical Bogie fashion, and asking Sam to play "As Time Goes By" . The song that meant so much to him and Ilsa.So he is trying to drown a memory in booze , a memory that he is also trying to remember in detail all over again. One of my favorite scenes from the movie! Oh and BTW... movie trivia... Bogie never said "play it again Sam" as has always been attributed to him lol

This is a chess board I made for my son for christmas and gave to him last weekend...yes I know it was late! This is a box made of red oak and poplar. In the style of 16th century pilgrams, called typically a bible box. Tho they actually used them to hold many things. The carvings are my fav part.

So here I was driving my work truck and I see this guy desperately trying to push his vehicle out of an intersection.people all around in their respective cars waiting for him to get out if the way. I jump out and tell him to steer while I push.so 2 people HONK their horns for me to hurry obviously. Then this guy (with elderly woman in front seat) hollers at me that I pushed him to fast so he had a hard time steering right. Then......then I don't even get a thank you or a kind wave from other motorists. He ran out of gas it seems. Ain't that some shit! Ah well I feel good.......

Saturday, February 9, 2013, 1:23:07 PM- For Art's sake!
What does art do for you? When you look at art do you see something that would look good over the sofa,or setting nicely on the mantel? Or do you see something that touches you deeply and no matter how it looks in your "decor" you find its new home? If you are a creator, what does art make you feel as you create? Are you someone who speaks better thru your creations or are your creations more an extension of your thoughts? Do you think a well built and beautifully designed piece of furniture made by an experienced craftsman is as much a piece of art as a painting by a dutch master? Is copying a piece of art , all done by hand though, art in itself? Or is that just "study"?( as long as its not done to deceive...thats a different story) Is abstract art an art in your eyes? a few colors splashed randomly on a canvas or a multi- angled piece of sculpted rock set amoung the fallen leaves in a tangle of tree's, is tha art? For myself, true art is whatever I, as a creator , feel overwhelmingly compelled to create. Sometimes it is a carving, or a painting or a piece of furniture with a unique look. And at times I even feel that a well built utilitarian piece like a book stand can be as artful as a well painted canvas. Abstract art is a look inside someone's thoughts. And realistic art is a look into someone's eyes.
