Laid-back, easy going guy until my passions are aroused. I've been here 3 other times... I keep trying to get it right, I guess. lol

Friday, November 17, 2023, 7:21:39 PM- Gut check
When your gut tells you to do something, don't ignore it. As I prepared for my morning walk today, I thought I was ready. I had on my hooded raincoat, but a look down made me think that maybe I should put on my rubber rain/snow boots. "Nah", I thought, "it's only sprinkling outside, I'll be o.k." Halfway through my walk the rain steadily got heavier. By the time I had returned home I was soaked from the shins down, which was the area my boots would have covered. Never say no to your gut. ~

People my age like to talk about how great it was growing up in the 1960s: We were on the brink of nuclear war in 1962. Peaceful civil rights marchers were attacked by segregationists. Our president was assassinated in 1963. Peaceful anti-war protesters were attacked by police and shot by the National Guard. A presidential front runner and a man of peace were both assassinated in 1968. From the time I entered 7th grade in 1964 until I graduated from high school in 1970, there were race riots in my school every year. Yes, the 1960s were a great time to grow up... If you kept your eyes shut and your ears closed. ~

I've always liked breaded pork tenderloins and Indiana has some of the best. I grew up eating pork fritters, which is a poor man's tenderloin. If you ever get the chance, try them both. Your taste buds will thank you. ~

Tuesday, November 14, 2023, 8:00:44 PM- Not yet
I like to walk in cold weather. This morning it was 40 degrees when I left my home. I was wearing lined nylon sweatpants, with thick hunting socks and leather walking shoes. I had on a tee shirt, hoodie, light jacket and a ball cap. Off I went, enjoying the cool breeze on my face as I walked along tree lined streets. And then I strode busier avenues with nary a tree and plenty of sunshine. The jacket and hoodie were unzipped as I began to break out in a sweat. It prolonged my walk a few minutes, but I passed through another shaded area to cool down as I drew near my home. I simply don't like to perspire in November. ~

Monday, November 13, 2023, 8:50:34 PM- Then and now
I used to wake up on Monday, groan and say: "one down, four to go." Now I wake up on Monday and say: "Who cares?"

Sunday's game between the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots in Germany started at 9:30am local time. Imagine being a fan of either of those teams and living on the west coast. To watch the game live you'd have to be up, awake and tune in by 6:30am. I'm not a fan of either team, so I slept in and recorded the game on my DVR. Another plus is that one can cut through all of the commercials. Thank God for modern technology. ~

Thursday, November 9, 2023, 8:38:06 PM- Left behind
I see where Ohio voters passed making pot legal. Kentucky will have medicinal pot in 2025. Illinois and Michigan are already pot legal. Which leaves my state, Indiana, smack dab in the middle with pot STILL illegal. I saw a poll where 85% of the people here thinks it should be legal, but the legislators think they know what the people want. On the local news this morning I saw where Michigan expects to bring in $3 billion dollars in sale for 2023. What do you get in Indiana? More people going to jail for possession, that's what. Really steams my corn how those in charge want to keep the old status quo. ~

Hearing a long, slow blast of a train whistle at 4am is about as annoying as that bit of food stuck between your teeth. ~
