Nice guy- always held me back but I'm OK with that. I remember my sisters and their friends saying about guys "He's too nice" WTF! That was always me. As you get older that turns out to be OK, doesn't it? (not always) lol. Anyway you have to live with yourself first.

Saturday, April 26, 2008, 8:02:17 PM- My father drove this rig when he was a fireman
Believe it or not this apparatus was still being used into the 1960's. It had hard rubber tires (no air in them for the blonds among us---bwahahaha) and brakes operated by steel rods connecting the pedal to the brake shoes. (called mechanical brakes). At 135lbs soaking wet, Dad had to stand on the pedal and pull on the steering wheel in order to generate enough pressure to stop the rig. He said you had to plan your stop almost a block ahead. Thank goodness the top speed was only about 10-15 miles and hour. Hardly worth blowing the siren, but there was one. It's called a "Water Tower", there is a large nozzle at the top of the tower sticking up in the back. It could knock down brick walls at full force and could put out 1500+ gallons of water per minute. It raised and lowered through a gear box powered by the water being pumped into it through hoses. Quite a piece of engineering for 1910 or so when it was hand built. There were 2 of these and a third one even larger. Thank you Dad for all you did for me, and God Bless. Remember those who fought for our freedom and way of life and those still doing so today, may God bless and protect them, always. Mort.

Went to a wine tasting yesterday--usually I spit out the wine because once you have a glass or so you cant really taste definitively anymore. This time was a dinner and tasting, wine I didn't plan on buying anyway so I swallowed - everything- and I tipped the waitress in advance so she was right there with the refills. Needless to say I got schnockered (sp?). Luckily (planned luckily) I went there with my retired cop friend who doesn't drink much. I went to sleep with my brand new contact lenses in-- DOH!! When I go up and put on my glasses I couldnt see out of one eye- unless I took my glasses off. WTF I figured out I had 1 contact still in the other is lost somewhere. I had them for 1 day and had to call the doc's office to order another one. Stooooooopid. Do you suppose the nursery uses RNs or medical personnell to harvest the penises for their arrangements? What kind of a vase to you put them in? How long do they keep before they begin to droop? LOL (they might have meant peonies, but penis sooo much funnier)

Sunday, March 30, 2008, 3:05:13 AM- Somebody had a BAD day
A man fell down an elevator shaft today at about 3pm here. His wife was with him- she didn't fall. Broken pelvis- SERIOUS head injury- poor guy. Poor wife- to be there when it happened. I always thought getting a phone call that your loved one was hurt was bad, but being there when it happened must be worse. My prayers to both. ps; What are the 2 car like coil springs that always seem to be at the bottom of the shaft supposed to do? It the elevator falls those springs ain't going to so squat. Any elevator peeps out there?

So these two whales, male and female, are swimming happily through the ocean. On seeing a boat, the male says, "Hey, I've got a great idea! Let's swim up under that boat and blow out really hard through our blowholes!" The female says, "Uh... I don't know..." "Come on, it'll be fun, come on, just this once!" The female agrees and they swim up under the boat and blow out, capsizing the boat and sending hapless sailors into the briny blue. As they are swimming away, the male says, "Wow, that was fun, wasn't it? Hey! I've got another idea! Let's swim back there and eat all the sailors!" The female, exasperated, replies, "Look, I agreed to the blow job, but I'm not swallowing any seamen." What's a "BLOW JOB"??? sheesh, I miss all the fun.

Thursday, March 27, 2008, 2:40:13 AM- Easter a little late
I haven't been around for a week or so, so no forums posts or blog comments, though I don't do too much anyway. Hope I didn't miss anything good. Easter sunday was nice, went to mass, the the smart alec priest recognized me while smoozing, and gave a look to the cracks in the ceiling and said "twice in only 4 days?" I went on Holy Thursday too. The mass was very nice- 90 minutes long though. I remenber when I was a kid I could barely stand the less than an hour version. Easter they had the choir, organ, piano and 2 trumpet players- great music, and 3 dancing ladies, carying the holy wine and a couple other things to the alter. They danced all the way up and all the way back, nice. My friends wife sings in the choir, so I got to say hello to her and their kids, he has parkinsons, and is only 52 or 53- a tough road, I have known him for 27 years. We never know how lucky we are. The rest of the day was an easter egg hunt, 3 actually, little kids, big kids and, the real kids(adults). Lots of wine , beer and food as always. We had the best weather in the last several years of Easters. I even rememberd to call family that are too far away to come. Well I called some, some called me. Good to stay connected. I said a prayer for a special friend on Holy Thursday and Easter, fwiw coming from me, but I hope it helps. A sweet person. Anybody out there with some extra blessings laying around, send a couple my way, it couldn't hurt. Life has always been easy for me, direction, feet on the ground etc. with a few bumps in the road, the usual stuff. Lately though its been a little harder- motivation and a broken give-a-shitter- stuff I never thought would happen to me. I stopped losing weight, bottomed out at 189lbs and went back to 195- My friends were telling me to put some of the weight back, though I feel better at the lighter weight, they don't think i look good. WTF do they know! LOL I am pretty wordy today- don't know why- and philosophical too. Doesn't suit me actually- I shoud quit now before I embarass myself. I haven't even had anything to drink, so no excuses like drunk typing. LOL Thanks for looking, Mort
