Odd yet delightfully intriguing. Morbid yet very very sweet. Sarcasm is part of who I am.....deal with it.

Tuesday, July 1, 2014, 3:01:20 AM- A long awaited decision.
We had a chat with our oldest son. This is in regards to a previous blog. Anyhoo, he has decided to stay on track with his PhD. *whew*...lol. I would have supported him if he had put it on the back burner and found a job in his field of studies. But thank heavens he decided to finish his intended goals and education. I crossed my fingers, toes, legs, arms, and eyes...that he would choose his PhD...lol The university that he attends has offered him 2 part time teaching positions. He has taught at this university many times before, so it was easy to hire him again. He won't be moving anytime soon. He will stay out of town during the week and come home on the weekends. All is well! Now my worry begins again. He is on a break and will be heading out tomorrow morning for the Sierras to rock climb and camp for 10 days. I have blogged about his rock climbing before. I know that he knows what he is doing and is an avid hiker and camper. But, he has a wee bit of his Moms adventurous gene and likes to feed his need for curiosity. Man oh man, this parenting stuff is hard! This worrying shit is killer!! I envy him and his trip. I can picture it now....being all snuggled in a sleeping bag with just your face showing. Looking up at the stars and breathing in that cold, crisp, sweet mountain air. I also remember giggling at the scary sounds of the animals that you can hear howling at night....lol. You tense up, giggle and wonder if they are there to get you! So much fun...lol Or laughing out loud when you hear the sound of a twig breaking....hahaahah

Monday, June 30, 2014, 3:26:31 AM- Food Porn
I have always enjoyed cooking and baking. Even if you don't have the most perfect of pots and pans, you can still create wonderful food or meals. When I am here in OC, I just so happen to be lucky enough to use the former mother in laws Cast Iron Cookware, complete with cast iron lids. This cookware has been around since before The Depression. Her Mom used it, she used it and then it was given to me. I left it here for the ex when I moved out. I am used to this type of cookware because my Dad taught me how to cook and bake with it. If you have never had a deep cast iron cake or biscuits, then you have no clue what you are missing! MMmm a nice pineapple upside down cake baked in a cast iron pan is to die for! I made a pot roast earlier. Here it is with the cooked veggies on top and the veggies removed. I did take a picture of the gravy, but the picture was too blurry. *note, do not put a cell phone over hot steamy gravy* lol. There is laundry to be done. Once the ex is resting comfortably and asleep, I can take some time for myself and watch a movie. Hugs and kisses to all

Sunday, June 29, 2014, 1:12:07 AM- It's Lego Saturday....on the road.
About midnight last night I received a call from OC. The Father of my boys needs help again. I packed a bag or two and rushed out. I drove all night and arrived this morning. I can only imagine that this is going to happen quite frequently. Fortunately I have a job which allows me to use my annual leave as I wish. I also have supervisors who understand what is happening. How long will I be here? I do not know. For now, all there is to think about is helping where I am needed. There will be time to pop in now and again. For now, here is my Lego Saturday entry. Lego Nurse.

Friday, June 27, 2014, 8:26:58 PM- A huge debate.
During the Friday morning brief, we discussed on of the most important debates of our time. Horror stories were exchanged and nightmares were relived. It was an unavoidable discussion. As mature adults we could not help ourselves and did not rest until it was voted on. Unfortunately, the vote was never cast. Too many raw feelings were exposed. So tell me? Which is worse? Stepping on a Lego, stubbing your toe, stepping on a tack, or an extension cord plug? Don't worry, we did discuss other important matters.....lol

Friday, June 27, 2014, 4:35:26 AM- Why do I do it?
It's an addiction. All week long I have been a mad woman. As soon as I walk through the door, I pick up my pencils, pens, paintbrushes and proceed to just sketch away. My hands, wrists and fingers are sore & cramped. But do I care? No...lol...I don't. So this is my fault and I should spank myself. I can only surmise that I am replacing the lack of my photography excursions for the art creations. Either way, to me it is an enjoyment and an addiction. I could replace the art for cooking...lol. There is always something that we become addicted to. Do you have a hobby or something that you start and find it hard to stop? **sex not included**

Thursday, June 26, 2014, 5:26:46 AM- Class pictures.
I looked at a few of my elementary class pictures. Now, I am not referring to the entire class pictures. Anything can happen in the group pictures. I am talking about the individual student pictures. Man did I have a laugh or two! How in the hell did those photographers get their jobs? How does the photographer not notice that your hair ribbon is falling out of your hair? How do they not notice that you are sitting on a slant with your eyes closed or that the partition in back of you is tipping over? As I looked through them I realized a few things. 1. The photographers must have been; a. prior mugshot technicians, or b. crime scene photographers. 2. From the looks of some of my hairstyles, my sisters must have been: a. Drunk, b. Blind, or c. out to make sure I laughed at myself years later. How in the hell did my sisters get my ponytails to stand up as if I they were blowing in the wind? I wonder what the photographers school pictures looked like? When was the last time you opened up your keepsakes and laughed at your class photos?

First off, part of what I do during the day and many times late at night, I help others. I am dedicated to this. To those who know me, know that I love to hug. Big teddy bear hugs make me smile and feel warm all over. If you don't have anyone to hug, hug yourself. I do. On the weekends or when I get the chance, I like to break free and get into trouble. Sometimes the things I do makes me shake my head late at night when I am snuggling under the covers....lol. If I'm not in my sneakers, I am in my hiking boots. As for the last thought? Sunday, June 22, 2014, 4:29:26 AM- Sharing the berry field.
*pardon the quality of the pics. The sun was setting. I was in the mood for some fresh berries. So I figured that after I walked on down the road to get me a fresh salad, I might as well stop by the field and pick some blackberries for desert. Now I am used to the birds trying to chase me away and occasionally a deer will be there, but they usually run away. This time a deer wanted to share the field with me. In order to keep the peace, I was throwing him some berries. Which he gladly ate. But then he wanted more. He wanted what was in my bag. Maybe it was the scent of the salad? Maybe it was the scent of the garlic bread and butter? The berries in the plastic bottle? Who knows! But the lil guy kept following me. All of the green areas in the field are blackberry vines. Even the entire bush in the back field. You barely see the bushes in the dusk of the sun setting. It was unbelievably awesome that he was following me, but I did know he was getting too close for comfort and decided that it was time to go. During the moments in which I was feeding the deer some berries, I was on the phone with the father or my sons. His words were "You do know that a deer could kill you? Will you ever learn how dangerous mother nature can be?" My response "Well if Bambi decides to go postal on me, you are in my will and it is located under my mattress" What a cute way to end my walk. Hanging around with Bambi.
