Odd yet delightfully intriguing. Morbid yet very very sweet. Sarcasm is part of who I am.....deal with it.

What do I plan on doing today? Absolutely nothing. Oh I will walk into Pacific Grove and pay my rent, but other than that, my plan is stay on the sofa and catch up on some reading. Today my book of choice is "Did you hear the one about Hitler" by Herzog. My nick name today is Couch Potato Kitty. What are your plans for the day or what were plans for the day?

Thursday, October 31, 2013, 5:05:25 PM- Creeped out and it isn't even 10 am yet.
The first thing that creeped me out was seeing a grown man dressed as me. They are having a Halloween party here and one of the officers came dressed as me in a white skirt, a cashmere sweater, a pair of mules (sandals) and a blonde wig. I have never been a Halloween costume before....lol......YIKES! The funny thing is, he didn't shave his legs. The second thing was another man smelling me. I am out of my Spellbound perfume and won't be buying myself any until Christmas. It's the one perfume that I wear and have been for 26 years. So, I went for the standby of baby powder. I was standing with a sgt and one of the techs walked in and sniffed the air. He asked who was wearing the baby powder. Of course the sgt announced that what man in his right mind would wear baby powder. So the tech got close and sniffed me and then growled. CREEPY!! I just got back to my office after running home and showering real quick. *makes note----don't wear the baby powder to work anymore* There are 7 hours left in my work day. I wonder what is next?...'que evil music' *bum bum bum*

Thursday, October 31, 2013, 5:11:52 AM- Artists
On the road to Santa Cruz there is a small artists shop. The man is a welder and a painter. I have always wanted to stop in and now that I looked in the window while the shop was closed, I will. The creations inside are amazing. What draws patrons into his shop are the magnificent welded motorcycle sculptures out front. Not only are they gorgeous in person, but they are unbelievably remarkable in imagination. The artist is a Harley rider and this is his ode to the beloved maker. These sculptures are bigger than my full sized Chevy Silverado. At first glance you have no clue that the motorcycles work. They can't go very far, but that isn't the point. He can show his work start up and rev his engine just for show. I forgot to ask the artist where he found the tires, but I would imagine from the looks of them, they came off of some heavy duty construction equipment. The artist is a Military Veteran. It is prominent in his work and the flags he so proudly displays around his shop. This one is made up of license plates of the states that he had visited. This one is made up of horse shoes. It was my favorite. The welding was amazing. The trick in being a fine welder are the seams of the artist. A smooth seam without clumps and hesitation marks is hard to accomplish. The rust is beautiful and it appears the years have brought character to it. I plan on visiting this shop again. It's important to not only support a small business, but it is most important for one artist to support another artist. The small shops are a dying breed and should not be allowed to fall under the weight of big business. I won't waste my money on the conglomerates. The artist who runs the shop along the highway is a hard worker and enjoys his work. Yes, he needs to earn a profit, but he does it with heart and soul. Not from the blood of others while cheating the consumer and taking advantage of cheap labour. When one of his designs leaves his sight, he waves goodbye to the customer and knows that his life lives on. Support the small business owner and your local artists. They are worth it. At times, you may find yourself shopping at one store so much, you make a friend.

Wednesday, October 30, 2013, 5:20:35 AM- Last Sunday in Santa Cruz.
I arrived in the early morning and was elated to see the fog. The tourists are few and far between this time of year, so I had the sand to myself for a while. I wasn't ready to take pictures of the lighthouses yet, so I watched the water. The fog turns all of the colors around you a muted grey and yet what you see is still beautiful. Then all of a sudden the wind picked up and pushed the fog rapidly along and gave me a peak at the sun. It was at that moment I saw some sailboats that had been hidden under the cloak of the fog. The sun was shining on the sailboats heading out to sea for a day of family fun and serenity. It appeared as if the sun had purposely created a glistening map of silver for the boats to follow. Man, I had forgotten how many pictures I had taken that day. When I walk around I lose track of how many I take. Because there are so many, I am still undecided on which lighthouse pics to post. While I was sorting through the file, a co-worker became interested with this one and asked to buy it and give it to his Grandparents as an anniversary gift. I can't wait to see it enlarged and framed.

Tuesday, October 29, 2013, 4:14:21 AM- Tonight's intended blog is being interrupted.
Sometimes I am afraid to open emails from my sisters. Their emails are like boxes of chocolates. I never know what I am going to get. It seems that Sister M has a friend. This friend has a cousin in Utah. The cousin of my sisters friend has a daughter with a kid. Following me? Well, the friends cousins daughter and grand baby are driving from Colorado to Oregon and want to stop over in Pacific Grove and Monterey for a few days. Sister M wants to know if I will let her friends cousins daughter and baby stay with me. Me: Sis? Do you know these people? Sis M: No. Me: Then how do you know they will be good people? Sis M: I do know my friend used to be a Girl Scout Leader for a few years. Me: Well gee M, that settles it! The daughter and grand baby of a cousin to a former Girl Scout Leader friend of yours is always welcome in my home....lol. I'll leave the key under the potted plant. lol....Bless her silly heart.

Monday, October 28, 2013, 6:01:15 PM- Bruised butt cheeks
Good news: I snapped some great pics of my Sunday adventure to Santa Cruz. Bad news: For some strange reason cliffs and hillsides do not like me. I slid down a few of them and now I have bruises all over my butt cheeks. My ass looks like a spotted owl. But then again, it wouldn't be an adventure without an injury or two. I will post the pics of the lighthouse when I get home.
