Odd yet delightfully intriguing. Morbid yet very very sweet. Sarcasm is part of who I am.....deal with it.

Tuesday, October 15, 2013, 5:32:47 AM- Why make an obnoxious statement?
Remember Mr. Croc? I mentioned him a few blogs back. He was the man who wore crocs and a back pack with a suit when we went out? Now I do admit to not being attracted to such shoes, but there was more to not being attracted to him. It wasn't just the shoes. We just didn't have the chemistry. He told me that he felt chemistry for me. But it takes two and I didn't feel it. I felt blah being in his presence. Anyhoo, He lives a few houses down and occasionally we see one another and nod our heads. I saw him earlier today. He was walking hand in hand with a woman. He yelled "Hey there, Hello!" So I waved and went about my business. It seemed weird that he would yell so loud....as if he was purposely trying to get my attention. Later on in the evening we bumped into one another at the corner store. He said hello again and asked me if I saw the woman that he was with. (I could have said "Well you yelled loud enough for me to see her"...But I didn't) I said "Yes" He asked me what I thought of her. Now to me, I didn't care. "What did I think of her? I don't know, she has brown hair"?...is what I said. Then he quickly tells me that he met her after the two of us went out. I congratulated him and started to walk away. He then said "She is great and we have chemistry all of the time and SHE is HOT HOT in bed, so I guess you missed out" Ohhhhhhhhh I went there! I giggled inside....and let the snarky answer just flow off of my tongue....."Funny how you only said that SHE is HOT HOT in bed. This means I'm not missing out on anything from you" "Have a nice night" *walks away shaking head* The guy is an obnoxious jerk. He hid it so well during our one and only date. I have no regrets because I was kind to him when I didn't accept a 2nd date. I am not going to feel bad because I was honest with someone. You cannot force or fake chemistry. End of story.

Thursday, October 10, 2013, 4:24:40 AM- What will be left for them to do during recess? Twiddling thumbs?
The so called 'Educational Elite' want today's generation to be mushrooms who are wimps, weenies, unimaginative and lazy. For the last couple of days, I have been reading some very disturbing things happening in schools across the states. It is very alarming. ***Orlando Taylor, the principal of Inglewood Elementary School in Towamencin Township, sent a letter to parents telling them that "some holidays observed in the community that are considered by many to be secular (ex. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day) have religious overtones." Because of this, Taylor has canned the school's Halloween parties, costumes and other celebrations. ***GRAND RAPIDS, MI - A Michigan elementary school says its new "No Tag, No Chasing" policy is aimed at stopping behavior deemed too rough for kindergartners. In a letter Oct. parents were told about the policy. Administrators said the problem of children "running in packs, pushing, knocking other children over," was "making the game dangerous." ***Officials at Weber Middle School in Port Washington are worried that students are getting hurt during recess. Thus, they have instituted a ban on footballs, baseballs, lacrosse balls, or anything that might hurt someone on school grounds. Students were informed that during recess, football is out and Nerf ball is in. Hard soccer balls have been banned, along with baseballs and lacrosse balls, rough games of tag, or cartwheels unless supervised by a coach. Students were not thrilled about the news. And these are not the only states. Seriously? Banning Cartwheels? Recess is for letting loose after sitting behind the desk for hours. What are these kids supposed to do?....sit and get weaker and obese? I cannot wrap my head around Dodge Ball or Football being played with a Nerf Ball? But oh no!!...watch out! The kids could choke on a broken piece of the nerf...omg! Do you want to know one of the games we played in school? We took turns playing king of the hill on top of the metal jungle gym. Can you imagine that? Kids flying off and falling over 7 feet down to the sand? The kids today will never know the thrill of recess and exercise. During football and baseball, you expect a bruise or two, a ball to the head, to the eyes...it is what balls do when someone doesn't catch it right. What school yard game did you play that would would make people cringe?

Wednesday, October 9, 2013, 4:09:29 AM- Continued walk through the Carmel Mission.
As I stated before, the Hummingbirds were everywhere. But it seems they are in abundance around 5pm. I caught this little guy just hanging out on a grape vine that had grown skyward and punctured its way through the slats of the Spanish tiles. I have decided that I am going to do a panoramic copy of this picture and send it to my best friend for her Italian style kitchen. I know that the mission was glorious in every way. But I can tell you that the prettiest part of the walk were the windows. The windows were created and made to suit the nights, days, suns and moons during the seasons. Even 242 years ago, they thought of how the sunlight and moonlight had the benefits of allure and suitability. Each window had its own charm. It is bewildering to me, that something so fragile, survived so many earthquakes. Yes, there was damage, but the bulk of the mission has lasted since 1771 and then in 1880 it began to transform back to its original glory, all due to the tender loving care it needed from caring and loving volunteers. Inside the mission is one of the most jaw dropping historical and priceless scenes I have ever stood in front of. My Dad was Catholic and I attended mass once a week, so I can respect the significance of the blessed Mother. It is hard not to stare at such love. This concludes the tour for the day. The price of admission was the kindness that all of you show by stopping by and saying hello.

Tuesday, October 8, 2013, 3:58:18 AM- I saw history and beauty today.
I ventured over to one of California's first missions. Carmel Mission Basilica was built in 1771 and has withstood neglect, looting, earthquakes and life. The tomb of its founder, Father Junipero Serra is entombed under the floor of the altar in the church. The living quarters for the Spanish Nuns and the Spanish Monks were also built in 1771 and are right up the road right across from Carmel Beach. During the year of 1834 the mission was looted and then neglected. It wasn't until 1880 did the restoration of the mission take place. Slowly, the ancestors of the thieves returned the stolen artifacts, no questions asked. I had taken so many pictures and will display them later. I was in awe and teared up as I entered the mission. I lit a candle and blessed myself in the holy water and said a prayer. I cannot explain how it felt to be standing next to the tomb of one California's most religious and historical figures. His life lives on in the mission. The grounds of the mission is so full of life and nature. Hundreds of years of generations of birds, trees, flowers and animals live within the walls. This Cork Oak Tree has been standing since before the mission was built in 1771. I cannot begin to describe it's splendor. The windows are still sheltered behind the wrought iron bars and wooden shutters that protected the Native Americans who sought shelter in the mission from the soldiers who wanted to arrest them. According to the mission grounds keeper, Hummingbirds swarm the ground at 5:00 pm and I would have loved to have been there. But I did get a few pictures. While everyone was trying to get the side views of the birds, I loved how the sun shone through the delicately feathered wings. The Monarch Butterflies are trickling in. At the end of October they descend on the mission. I am hoping to be there for that. Isn't it fantastic to see nature in harmony with one another? A bee and a butterfly making sure that life lives on. I had another glorious day! Thank you for letting me share part of it with you.

Monday, October 7, 2013, 4:37:23 AM- What a beautiful day! Take a walk with me.
I went for a walk along the beach. There are just so many sights to see around here and you can lose track of time. During the first hour of my walk, I wound up in the water thigh high looking for shells. As I walked along the water I picked up a beautiful shell and handed it to this little girl. She squealed with delight and ran to tell her sister. Then her sister asked me to find her a shell, then other kids were asking me to do so. That is how I ended up in the water for about an hour up to my rear...lol. The water is a clear green and you can see the shells on the bottom. But it was too deep for the little ones. Good thing I was in capri pants. The kids were making me smile and I loved every minute of it! After the kids, I was off to see the sights that I enjoy so much. This is a wall from one of the fisheries that deteriorated over time. The city preserves this wall for history. It always reminds me that at one time this city was nothing but canneries and fisheries beginning in the 1800's. Some of the canneries are still here putting food on the tables for thousands of people. After my rest, it was time to head on over to another cove. Each cove brings another beauty. You can never tire of the ocean in each cove. I like to sit on sea boulders here and just smile. You never know what will float by. After reminiscing about the time I used to sail with friends in Huntington Beach and Seal Beach, I strolled on over to where the Harbour Seals and the Sea Lions love to sleep, fight and play. Isn't this guy a cutie!!!! He was one foot from me. I get so freaking happy around these creatures. By the time I was done strolling, I sat on platform on the bay and swirled my feet in the water. All of a sudden the jelly fish came out from under the platform and scared the hell out of me! I have been stung by jellyfish before, so thank god I saw this guy around my feet and I pulled up in time. But god isn't it beautiful? There were so many of them, but this one caught my eye. Guess what else caught my eye? Ocean firefighters. They were yummy! They waved, I waved, they smiled, I smiled...they stared and of course I stared. Then true to form, like men always do....the firemen started showing off by lifting heavy objects and grunting.......hahaha. They were a treat to the end of my walk. You know it always makes me laugh that I can live right next to these sites and it only takes me one minute to get to the beach...lol But my walks always take hours. The walks that take 6 hours are when I walk around the peninsula to Carmel. I grabbed some sushi on the way home and enjoyed the memories I made today.
