It changes the rating...so for example if the rating is 'really hot' and you kept getting 'likes' then it would remain around the 'really hot' rating...the more 'Hot' you get then there's more chance
Years ago I had a complaint against me that by clicking on I like this photo & not this photo is hot I had down graded her rating! Not sure if it is true!
The rating will equate to the average of the sum of all the likes and hots. I think a hot is a 10 and a like a 7. So an insanely hot can be reduced to a lower rating if there are a lot of likes.
We used to have ratings of 1 to 10 but it got abused by people voting 1 to everything. Even now there has been discussion on whether we should have a like option.
One of the many reasons I have never or will ever vote on a pic. it's open to jealousy, pettiness and just plain should be removed from the pic section.
thx @emu for the information. it wasn't very clear from the site what either button does since both are still "liking". i would agree giving people a way to vote down is not needed on these sites.
