Mondays usually suck ass...but this one so far has been positive and productive. Took the day off from work so I could get my truck inspected and get the tags renewed. The local garage declared it safe to drive and 15 minutes later I had new tags....I can now legally drive it again after almost 6 months!!! Even better, my dad called and asked if I had been in contact with the insurance company about the homeowners claim. I told him I hadn't because we were still waiting on the deed transfer. He said that someone at the insurance company must have felt guilty about how the policy was worded....they sent him a check for the claim amount written in his name! Now I can get a tree service in to remove the two trees that have been down for a year and start looking into a new house!!!

Side note regarding the truck.......NEVER go to Wal Mart's auto center for tires. They quoted me the lowest price, so I had them order the tires last week. Saturday morning, I took the wheels off the truck and took them to Wal Mart to get the new tires put on. I specified that I wanted the blackwall facing out and that I was keeping the two old tires to use as spares. Almost 3 hours later (strike 1), the kid behind the counter tells me my tires are ready. I paid, but on the way out I noticed they had charged me a fee for disposing of the old tires....strike 2. I walk out in the garage and there sits my wheels and new tires....with the big white letters facing out...strike 3. I had to literally threaten the kid to get a manager to the auto care dept. The manager refunded the disposal fee, one of the geniuses in the garage had to go dumpster diving to retrieve my old tires and the other genius had to take the tires off the wheels to re-mount and re-balance them. Remarkably, it only took 20 minutes this time....go figure.

Some days just suck extra. We had Natascha scheduled for a vet appointment this morning....get her spayed and get her shots updated. Usually we contact a local animal welfare group...they will cover half the cost of getting pets spayed or neutered. Called them 3 weeks ago and told them we were getting one female spayed and 3 males neutered this time....they told us they'd mail the voucher out the next day. Three weeks later, no voucher....so, instead of a $150 vet bill, this trip was right at $300! Not really bad, I have spent that before at the vet's office...but an hour earlier I had just shelled out $1300 to get my truck out of the shop! Even worse, I still have to spend about $400 more on the truck before I can drive it again....needs 2 tires to pass safety inspection, then the cost of the inspection and renewing the tags. At least it runs better now...and I can set the cruise control without it downshifting into 3rd gear!

It's funny....I posted the first photo on Facebook this morning. Kept getting messages from someone wanting to know if the pups were for sale...they're just sooooo cute! Told them yes, all I want is $20 to cover their shots. Cool...what breed are they? I told them dad is lab, mom is pit. The entire tone of the conversation changed.....oh no, can't have anything that is part pit....evil dogs!

I got news for you dumbass. They were cute and cuddly before you knew what breed they were and they're still cute and cuddly. The pups didn't change when I called them pit bulls...your narrow minded attitude did. After seeing how your mind works, I wouldn't let you adopt a cockroach, let alone a creature deserving of love and affection. Now crawl back under your rock while I enjoy the companionship of my dogs.

The severe thunderstorms that came through didn't leave us unscathed. I lost my slightly crazy pit Lucy. Looks like she tried to hide under the porch instead of in a house and she got stuck. Don't know if she just had a heart attack from panicking or what...but I just laid another one of my furry children to rest.

R.I.P. Lucy. Daddy's gonna miss you.....
